I’m looking at frames for next year, to do some enduro races and it’ll be used on a European lift assisted holiday. Ive got a 29er hardtail that’ll continue to get the majority of use so doesnt necessarily have to be the complete all rounder. Looking for experiences from owners but also suggestions of similarly suited frames….

Yeah, superb bike. Amazing on descents and pedals decent as well. I had a Mojo HD before and the Rune rides much nicer.

Yep, fantastic bike, pedals well despite being quite heavy. Very quick and loads of grip with a CCDBA/Pike. Feels completely different when you change the geo too.

I test rode one (in 650b mode) and it was fantastic.
Heavy, but if you’re lift-assisted or just don’t care about a couple of pounds, then it’s superb.

I’ve had mine built up since December and really enjoying it. There’s a noticeable difference between the settings, in a good way.

Yeah I’ve felt the weight of a frame and it was a bit porky but that doesn’t really bother me. Its going to be a bike for races and uplift day (holidays). I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I don’t think its the beat looking bike in the world…… Every review I’ve read has been glowing though! Other one I was looking at was the new transition patrol.

Do you know anyone locally that can get you a test ride. I know thats always the default answer when asking about new bikes but i really think it will be worth it.

I tried a spitfire in a wee car park test when i was at one of the Innerleithen enduros earlier this year, i quite liked it and even though i was not in the market for a new bike i booked a test ride and took it to laggan for the day. It absolutely blew me away. I put an order in that day.

I know that the banshee is the rune’s is the smaller brother but it climbs very very well as the suspension is so good. And i was coming from a DW Link Turner so if it was crap i would have noticed right off.

It wont be a wasted day even if you have to travel a fair bit.

Mate of mine has one (mindmap3) and I think it’s a great bike. It has been to antur and bpw and coped very well at each. For shorter smoother rides he preferes his ht as it’s a bit more nimble but that is the same for most riding I think. I briefly considered getting one but am sticking with my stumpy and looking at a DH bike.

Had mine since October. Was 26, but not for long, had 650 for most of that time. Mine is my enduro bike and a few mini dh races, plus alpine holidays. Yes it its heavy, but it’s bloody tough too! Very solid frame. It’s most suited to riding down, I find it hard to keep up with mates on the more pedally, flat sections, but it’s very sure fitted on the way down, great in corners and on the steep stuff. Going up isn’t too bad, what it loses in weight department, it gains on how it pedals, very efficient. I do wish it had a little longer top tube though, like the spitfire.
If you are south coast area, your welcome to test ride it

A local shop said a test bike is available from next weekend, think I’ll give one a try

My bro had one on demo along with many others and is most likely going for a Whyte G150 instead as he preferred it. Said the Whyte went up hill a lot better.

Not sure if that pic will work…

Anyway iv the 2015 rune I built up, still 26 but if and when I find some 650 pikes I’ll maybe change. The things a beast, it climbs as well as my alpine (no surprise there) but on the way down it is fantastic, I use it from everything from quick trail centre blasts to uplift days.

I put it in the neutral position think I’d slacken it for dh days and tighten it up for the more sedate stuff but I find the middle setting does everything well..

Sorry I dont know much about it, but can find out. Its 2014 green, with Fox Float X CTD shock. Very well maintained as he works in a bike shop. Only selling as he is setting up his own shop, but wont be stocking Banshee, so will be riding a stocked brand. PM me if you want all the details and I’ll put you in touch.

    As above, great bikes.

I think they climb better than they have any right to. Mine comes in at just over 32lbs which I don’t thinkmis that bad for a 160mm travel bike. As well as uplift days and days at local DH spots, it’s done some big XC rides in the Dales where it was surprisingly painless.

The change in angles does make a difference. In the slack setting it feels more capable on DH stuff than some of my old DH bikes…the only thing holding it back is me!

The CCDBa is a great shock too, although too much fiddling and it’ll feel nasty. I demo’d one with a Fox CTD shock which I really didn’t like.

This thread is useless without pics, so here’s mine.
