Running a 34t n/w chainring mounted in the middle ring position of an XT crank so chain line is pretty good. The noise is like the chain’s reseating itself when putting the power back on??

    Using a clutched mech too.

    Any clues??

New chain of old chain? Twisted link? Free hub slipping?

The chain’s good Suggsey. Would the length be an issue even with a clutched mech?

I get the same with a similar setup. I think it is the chain riding up on the chainring then snapping back into place. In a few thousand miles I haven’t lost a chain so I ignore it.

Does it do it through all gears? Suspect it something chain line related, but hard to say.

Idiot question, But you have got the Fat/Outer links over the Fat Tooth on the NW chainring?
