But the UK is not a socialist country like the rest of Europe .

Labour needs to be a bit more on the right than socialist parties in Europe .

Then when the tories move rightwards Labour should follow? Then we end up with what are mildly left of centre positions being described as hard left. Rinse and repeat until we end up with right wing and extreme hard right.

With all the old Labour voters wondering who will represent them and choosing whichever loonies promise them something.

Labour will never been in power with left only policies . very few people in the uk would vote for more civil cervants , nationalised industries etc….

Leaving aside the oddness of your idea that “more civil servants” is a core Labour position. In case it escaped your notice people did vote for a lot more civil servants recently.

As for “nationalised industries”. Are you sure about that? When polled there is strong support for nationalisation of certain industries and if you care to examine Labours position they dont suggest any nationalisation beyond specific industries. Given that quite a few of the companies in those areas are owned by governments, just not our own, I am not sure of the objection to this?

A high number of civil servants on protected status and nationalised industries are very much what socialist parties are in continental Europe . I did not say they were core Labour values .

I was just sharing my experience of an european living in the uk for a long time , and now gone back . In 20 years in the Uk I have only met very few people who would have voted for an european type socialist party . that is all .

and for reference I cant stand the Tory party , especially since Brexit . I just cannot understand how useless Corbyn is given the current situation .

The commentary seems really odd… Labour won, hands down, but it’s like the SNP in the last GE, winning by less than you’d like to is the new losing. And Theresa May out saying “we can’t be complacent” like the Tories just won something.

    Mikewsmith wrote,

“There is a very clever and deliberate policy from sections of the media and community to blur the lines of criticism of Israel and anti semitic behaviour. That is problem number one”

As perfectly demonstrated by the head of the BOD describing Jewdas- jews they disagree with- as antisemites.

Well, as I said at the start of this thread, I was quite keen to see the back of the Conservatives.

    And they’re out!

Take a look at the DM’s spin on the election results – it is pure comedy genius…

Yes, unbelievable isn’t it? The worse things get the more people think everything should be squeezed. It’s a classic race to the bottom.

It’s much easier to dismantle than show compassion and come together.

Plenty still have this idea that Corbyn is somehow useless and dangerous. It’s the complete opposite – the Tories have exacted out that very logic.

Corbyn simply wants to redistribute. If we look after the bottom end of society we will all benefit. This goes unrecognised by the Tories. They are still living in the trickle down world.

    And that is the failure.

And i I bet if you look at who voted, that would be your answer why.
