Still got a way to go to beat Gooch’s high score, let alone Hutton’s – not really scoring fast enough to have enough time before the declaration. Though I think there’s little doubt that unless he breaks down he’ll take the record for most hundreds by an Englishman sometime in the next couple of years and will go on to be the first Englishman past 10,000 runs.
