For me, it has to be Adidas Marathon TR (although never seen any of the originals which had a half mesh grey sole)

[img] [/img]

Also loved Air Jordan IV's in black, I had 3 pairs at the same time in the same colour when they came out!

[img] [/img]

and lastly Nike Internationalist in blue/yellow

always always the last pair I had that are no longer available.. I went through a helluva lot of puma romas though so maybe those..

there was a chunky adidas 'outdoor pursuits' type shoe around '89 - '91 maybe.. really gawdy colourscheme.. possibly lime and purple.. they were ace.. I killed a pair of them..
those hi-top vision streetwear boots from around the same got worn to death too..

Some old canvas rucanor baseball boots, wore them till they fell off me feet, then bought another pair, then another.
The keen targhee mids im wearing now are like their spiritual successor, on my second pair with the third on the horizon.

I had those Nike Air Jordan but in white with a grey/black speck.

And my black/white Nike Air Hurache were pretty cool.

Our PE teacher had Adidas Marathons in '82ish, I always had better trainers than him. back then I was a real trainer geek and used to spend most Saturday afternoons in the Adidas shop in Edinburgh looking at trainers.. my favourite at one point were their F1 racing boots. I could never choose an all time favourite trainer as I wouldn't be seen dead now in what were once upon a time favoutites.

My god, I think I agree with loddrick. The green ones were nicer though.
Diadora Borg Elite, Samba, Gazelle, and the original blue and grey Los Angeles run them close.

Current faves are blue suede Nike baseballboots with a high top and a waffle sole, had them for years, never wear them 'cos they're sooo good........
Limited edition from sportsfeet in Manchester. I love them so much I'll post a picture tomorrow.

Inov8's and New Balance thesedays though....

they look a bit ridiculous (just a bit 😀 ) but i was very pleased to get a pair of these [img] [/img]

comfiest ever...think probably a pair of nike air huarache from the mid 90s, they had an inner sock you would wear with bare feet. Very comfy but stunk after a while!

I too remember the Adidas shop in Edinburgh in the early 80s. They had everything including a bobsleigh shoe section.

These were THE gutties when I were a lad.

Muhammad Ali on your feet! Seriously? That has to be the worst looking shoe I've ever seen 😯

I had a pair of blue Duffs a few years ago, well they lasted about 6 years cos I couldn't throw them out. So comfortable. Never seen any like em before or since 🙁

Underground in Manchester (who I ended up designing shoes for), used to import Adidas directly from Germany, so you could get garish colours that weren't generally available here. Mine were navy blue and pink 🙂 Loving my New Balance at the moment

back in the day this is what graced my hooves

I can just recall how great it was when somebody went abroad and then came back with a new colourway. Them were the days!

Nowadays it tends to be Gazelles.

Air Max 95 are a classic too.

these (adicolor G5 superstar 2+), once worn a bit (to get rid of the new shoe shine) are a favourite of mine (i also have the desert camo version)

these (puma futsala), again once worn properly (and looking manky) were another favourite (i bought mine 2 sizes too small cos they looked better...)

and currently wearing these (adidas ciero) into oblivion - my favourite ever pair of shoes.

in all honesty i've been a bit disapointed with the google image results (esp the pumas!), and i can assure you all the above trainers look far superior in real life! currently got around 13 pairs of trainers i think - most of the main brands covered, but got a definite love for adidas.

Vans Old Skool Low-Top, I wore a pair of there until they could be used no more. Worked nicely on the bike too.

And finally an Adidas Superstar in brown and beige, a classic design.

I love trainers.

Seeing as this is allegedly a cycling forum, these are worthy of note

[img] [/img]

A set of SPD's that were actually acceptable to wear off the bike. Wore them til they fell apart, bought another pair. Wore them til they fell apart, bought another pair. Wore them til they fell apart, bought another pair....

I had a pair of Nike Air Mx in Turquoise that i can't find a picture of anywhere. I also had a limited edition pair of Nike Air Huarache in suede/petrol blue colour, which again i can't find a picture of anywhere. This makes me think they were quite rare and would be worth a lot now.

I also have a pair of the low top versions of these

[img] [/img]

And a pair of Puma Platinums that i can't find a pic of

DezB, which ones are chav?

All of my trainers (with the exception of the Spizikes) are designs that were originally released between 1987 and 1997 that I either owned or lusted after when they first came. I got my first pair of Nike Air Max in 1987 and have been hooked ever since. All the ones I own are in the original colour schemes not something that your average chav would buy from JD Sports.

I had these but navy stripes and Phaaaat laces, tan everywhere else and all gum sole. As a 19 year old circa 1996, I was overjoyed to never ever see anyone else wearing a pair except Damon Albarn. 8)

I also love rowley xl2's, I have a tan/black pair on its last legs and would love some more.

Same here, soo comfy even though my toes hang out of the left one. Also have a pair of DC's I bought about 3 years ago, super comfy and will be relegated to biking shoes once I find another pair that I like, was always a Vans man before, but the latest ones I've bought just feel horrible in comparison to the DC's.

Also have a pair of these:

Houns, those are called Air Max BW (Big Window, because of the large air bubble). I think they came out in 1991, I had a pair in the black, white and purple at that time. I have never seen the other colour, I only remember a womens version in white and blue that actually looked really nice, although a friend at school got them and everyone ripped it out of him for wearing womens clothes!

They were £100, I remember only too well trying to persuade my mum to buy them for me in Olympus Sport in Oxford Street. I never did get them, hence having to buy some in later life. The most gutting thing was that only cost £50 in kids sizes (up to 5.5), but I needed a 6 and even though I tried to make the 5.5 fit it was never going to happen. That day scarred me for life!

My God, some of those shoes are hideous. No, worse than hideous. It's cpaitalism gone mad, I tell you. Plus, shouldn't you wear things that half the world's population doesn't also own if you want to look cool?

I'm glad I'm old sometimes, not often though, but usually when reading threads like this. Now, pass me my Church's brogues.

ooooo ooo
Great thread.
Takes me back to pouring over the 1982 Nike running shoe catalogue.

I wanted
Nike Odyssey
Terra TC with phylon midsole
but most of all I wanted a pair of Mariahs.

Started off wth junior shoes "Wally Waffle" (like the Internationalists) then a pair of Yankees.
Later Adidas Oregons.
Must look on ebay!!!
