Tough one!

Back in my skateboarding days I swore by Duffs Strombolies, this was back when the only skate shoe options were Airwalk, Vans, Duffs or Etnies...I still maintain that they were the best skate shoes I ever used (though the Etnies SLB mid-tops came a close second).

I wore nothing but Vans Era/Old Skool for years, but have bought a pair of Vans Lo Pro Era (basically, just slimmed down Era) and they're superb.

I also have a major soft spot for Puma Suedes for which I blame the Beastie Boys circa Ill Communication/Check Your Head.

New Balance have some nice designs too, particularly the 360, but I primarily associate them with running shoes.

I had these but navy stripes and Phaaaat laces, tan everywhere else and all gum sole. As a 19 year old circa 1996, I was overjoyed to never ever see anyone else wearing a pair except Damon Albarn.

I had a pair of those too! The only Adidas ones i've ever bought i think.

sweepy

Some old canvas rucanor baseball boots, wore them till they fell off me feet, then bought another pair, then another.

Correct.

Me and a mate have same size feet. He bought a black pair of Ruccys and I bought a white pair. Swapped one, so we had one black and one white each. Excellent!

Original five 10 highs come a close second.

Adidas Ivan Lendl

I used to dream of these as a lad, except growing up in Barrow-in-Furness, shoes of any kind would have been good.

Nike Oregon Waffle - Had an original pair as a kid and several pairs as a grown-up

[img] [/img]
Airwalk Vic - First "proper" shoes I had for skating. Revelation after about 10 pairs of cheapo converse copies. Can't find a picture of the ones I had after; Etnies Natas, the first pro shoe model but they were equally good

The 60 year old ex-treasurer of my local running club has a wardrobe full of proper retro Nike trainers in unworn, mint condition. Every time he found a pair which agreed with his feet, he bought five more pairs, just in case they stopped making them!

I persuaded him to put a pair of the first ever Nike Air trainers on ebay (I did it for him - he's a bit of a luddite) and they fetched £190. He's a greedy wee get and he turned up with another five pairs of the same shoes (I think he'd paid about £25 each back in AD82 for them). Given that he hadn't even bought me a pint for selling and posting the last pair I told him to sling his hook.

So far as I know, he still has them all in his wardrobe. Address supplied for the right money 🙂

Some nice trainers listed. I'm not old enough to have owned proper retro ones, but one of my favourites I had in the past would be:
[img] [/img]
Adidas Original Row, part leather outsole, very well made but the leather soon worn through and they started to let water in.
[img] [/img]
Adidas Top Ten Lo Soul Power
[img] [/img]
Adidas X-Country, one of the comfiest trainers ever.

However the most worn pair is my Nike Elite Waffle.
[img] [/img]
(same as these ones but in black/silver)

I really like the look of the Oregon Waffle and will keep an eye for a pair in my size.

I also bought a pair of those Nike Air Zoom Oncore 6.0 for my OH. She used to wear trainers like this but now is all into girly shoes so these are hardly used. They look a bit in Your face and are a bit shiny but hard to get now so might be worth something in the future.
