I have a south facing frontage to my house that is covered by the sun all day long. It's a very warm place during the Summer months averaging in the mid 30's. Currently I have a bit of grass but would like to plant some roses.
Which variety do STW gardening experts recommend for a long season of flowering.? I want them to bloom as much of the year as possible.I have roses in other parts that were here when I moved in and look very nice for about one month, but then the flowers go.
I'm not looking for a climbing rose.

Loads of choice.

I'd recommend David Austin Roses, come with good quality roots and always take well - we've got about 8 in the garden now.

Use their selection guide to pick one:

NB If you want one to secure a fence, I can recommend http://www.davidaustinroses.co.uk/wild-edric dense with really viscious thorns!

Would agree with the wild edric and flowers profusely and has nice light old scent and hard to kill we use it as a divider for field with cows and horses.
Really like the Winchester cathedral is a white rose can be a bit of a bully as ours have got to about 7' though you can cut back by a good 2/3 and do really well. The boscobel is nice but looks sorry after the rain. The new Austin roses from last year have done well and looked ok after the rain. Think my favorite is darcy bussell or Sophie's rose.

My favourites are the old fashioned tea roses. Big blousey flowers which have a delicious scent on warm summer evenings.
Don't forget poo. Roses like a bit of dung around the base.
