to potential house buyers .
they are putting their house on the market. and I just wondered when a buyer comes along and asks what are the neighbours like .

Reason she has three times reported me to the environmental people ( all of which I got the OK from them as not doing owt wrong ). she also got the police round when the kids had a BBQ for excessive smoke
funny thing was the officers then helped the kids light the bbq 😆

so does she lie and say we are no bother or tell the truth and say I sometimes make a noise with machine tools

Wait until a prospective buyer comes along and then unleash hell with the power tools and get the kids doing American Indian smoke signals in the back garden 😈

I'd say it depends on 1) How much of a nuisance she actually perceives you to be, compared to how much she likes to make a fuss and 2) if she actually wants to sell her house or not.

Why would it matter to you though?

You're allowed sharp power tools! 😯

When a potential buyer comes to see her place, dress in your dirtiest, smelliest, most blood-stained clothes, grab a chainsaw and a half-emptied bottle of Tesco Finest scotch and go and borrow some petrol so you can start a barbie. Offer the PB a sip straight from the bottle and ask the lady if she remembers she is to come and clean your toilet as you've run out of sand paper and have been having to wipe your fingers against the walls.

I think she is duty bound to disclose any issues with the neighbours if asked - I think that's the important point.

If it was me I'd be very pleased she was thinking of moving. If you see any propective buyers, be very nice & cheery - tell them what a wonderful place it is to live

What do you care, she's selling the house, not you?

If she wants to sell her house, you'll be described as the perfect neighbour... why would she want to put prospective buyers off by making you out to be terrible to live next door to?

joao3v16 - exactly what I was thinking!

"This is a lovely house, but those neighbours - God I can't stand them - that's why I'm trying to move. Had to call the police on them at one point!"

Er.... not the best sales tag line is it?

So...you'd like her to move, and in order to faciliate that, you'd like to make it difficult for her to sell.

I understand completely.

This is an easy one.

Just pop round one evening and ask her if she's going to mention your behaviour to any PB's. The penny should drop if it already hasn't. Suggest that given the number of complaints she's made it would seem only fair...if she starts flapping give her a big, broad grin and suggest she writes to the police/council etc withdrawing her previous complaints.

Then go home and make a shitload of noise.

Repeat as necessary.

On the other hand, if a car load of nubile young ladies, who look as though they might enjoy carefree romps around the paddling pool, turns up to view the property make sure you're on your very best behaviour.

Dont care one way or the other if she moves or stays
But we might get some right noisy gits in her place. 😕

I just wondered if she had to disclose stuff like the reports to buyers

Dont they have to declare that sort of thing in their selling statement or whatever you do??

I thought that the seller had to mention any formal complaints about neighbours to potential buyers ?

Thats why when the relentless petty small town socially inept bully that lives upstairs from me complains that I have used the wrong guage cable for my washing line, or my bin was out 5 minutes early, I smile nicely and tell him to call the cops.

Their solicitor will require them to complete forms, amongst which a question will be 'have you had any disputes with your neighbours, if yes, give details'.

Just when you think it can't get any worse, it can ...

bigyinn - exactly !

It seems I had my lines on the wrong poles too (not a euphemism) the bottom flat is assigned the left back while facing north etc etc. He moved mine and replaced them with different cable, then acted like I should be all grateful, as opposed the very very confused and wondering if pixies visited the back yard at night. I'd put prawns in his hubcaps if I wasn't worried that he would poison my cat.

She sounds a bit of a mare but I'm not sure I'd appreciate someone next door to me having a machine shop either :p

Try living next door to 3 kids and a trampoline. I'd rather live next door to the Hope workshop. 😥 Mrs notlocal works shifts, and averages 4 hours sleep during the day when the kids are home. Don't think I've ever come across kids so noisy. We can honestly hear them across the village if we're out walking the dogs.

The declaring neighbour disputes when you move was one I thought I would have issues with but when you read the actual legal documents the wording read are there any neighbour disputes affecting access or boundaries - to which i replied none - we just hated each other - nowt to do with fences or access.
