Been looking to replace our DVD player with a DVD recorder to burn discs with stuff on our V+ box, but so many of them come with hard drives and freeview tuner, any recomendations for just DVD recorders or worth getting the other gubbins

Rip your DVDs with handbrake. Buy a humax pvr and or s playstation and or apple tv. No more DVD issues and welcome to 21st century

that was the OP's question wasn't it? how to get stuff you've recorded off your V+ box and keep it.

I do all the ripping stuff and stream through the PS3, but you need a DVD recorder if you want to copy saved programs from the V+ (or Sky) box. Then you can rip it and stream it.

I assumed the OP has a computer.

Mp4s are then transferrable to most devices.

Even with a computer, you can't transfer directly from a V+ or Sky+ box to the PC though can you?

Don't they have a USB out?

Personally would just start again. Digital Rights Management gets in the way and makes life harder to manage your own purchases.

Hence why I ripped to mp4 which can be used on most devices.
