family with kids 8, 12, 14
criteria:
culturally different (as in the people, not art galleries)
landscapes
pretty cheap when you are there
able to get a decent feel for the place in 3 to 4 weeks ie not so big that you only scratch the service
feels adventurous but relatively safe for kids
options I have come up with
some combination of Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia
Guatemala / Belize / Yucatan
Some combination of Bolivia / Equador / Chile / Peru
Went to Thailand this year and thought it was great - trekking, jungles, temples, mountains, beach, markets, great food. Covered nearly everything

Your 3 suggestions sound great.
Cuba would also provide some great opportunities for adventures.
