Basically, are they worth it?
I need a new bbq and want 'coal-fired'. At the weekend a mate was extolling the virtues of his weber and it seemed like it was doing a good job for him but he is easily led. I need to ask some cynics to balance the equation!
Just buy a weber, you wont regret it. Well worth the money!
Yes
We've had a 47cm compact for about 10 years, could do with a new grill but that's only 20 quid and spares are easy to get.
I don't understand why they are so expensive. Put one together for my mum last week and it came in about 1000 pieces, and all the fixings seems to be made of the cheapest materials possible.
Brilliant piece of kit,all spare parts available, buy it for life.
Yes, definitely worth the cash, but shop around prices vary.
Yep, worth it. As said, buy online for best prices.
I bought one last summer (56cm) and have to say that I agree with Joe. Whilst it works, I can't say I'm blown away by the quality, or that it perfos better than one costing half the price (or less). There's nowt wrong with it but I do think they're overpriced, so I wouldn't recommend tbh.
Worth every penny. Even more so if you use it as an oven all year round.
I gave away my Weber as I had no where to keep it 🙁
We got ours as a gift. I think it's a 56cm. I have to admit, if i'd paid full price for it, i'd probably be a bit disappointed. That said, it really is a joy to use.
I'd say buy one, if you can find one with a healthy discount. (or get it given to you!)
Hmm, fairly conclusive then. Will start the serious research....
will also check for ti-upgrade parts!
Sounds like Blinglespeed
Take a simple cooking method and make it very expensive and complex.
I've seen people cooking over deadwood under an up-turned tesco basket.
The other end of the spectrum is to use your grill and burn some wood in your kitchen.
Love my one go for it!!
Weber kit is well worth the money.
For slightly less money, Landmann stuff isn't too bad, especially if it's the £15 bbq from lidl.
Generally Weber is the best you can get over here. Porcelain coated bowls, which will pretty much last a lifetime.
Depends what you want to cook. Excel cookers are good if you want to properly Q on a budget:
Pulled pork
+1 Weber. Get the one with ash catcher if you can, makes it even easier. And get biggest you can, even if you don't always need the size you can bbq on one side but then have flexibility of big one for parties etc
Have had my Smokey Joe 'picnic' Weber for 25+ years so remarkable value. Always great to use and much borrowed.
Fantastic things, cooked a leg of lamb yesterday using the indirect
method after four hours the lamb was too die for!
