Well, not really if you read the "alternative" news and disappointed by them.

Guess it was going back to basics for trolling

Unless you consider the "DailyFact" (the newspaper with title Dailysomething) unreal and I made up the story. I am merely reiterating the disappointment in what they have written.

Two points:

1. Stop the war fast so everyone can rebuild, or
2. Drag on forever where there is no chance for peace.

No 1 will require massive realisation (probably nuke) that all will end in tears to start being humble again. Want to avoid this then just let Ukraine be under Russia domain or ...

No 2 stick with Western worldview that only the West/NATO can dictate terms to others and fight to the end.

I choose No 1 even if it means half the world will be in ashes. Humanity needs to be taught a very hard lesson.

Magic won’t end this war.

You're missing the point. It's not magic, it's diplomatic pressure

It will end when Ukraine have expelled Russian troops from Ukraine

That isn't true, you need to change the invader's aims.
In 1974 Israel comprehensively beat the Arab states during the Yom Kippur war, but Egypt got the Sinai Peninsular back because they were still able to cross the Suez Canal. Egypt holds the Sinai to this day

Wow.  Just wow.  You actually do wish for nuclear war don't you?  That is just a little bit unhinged and sick IMO.  I have given your non western, alternative take a little consideration on this thread at times, but honestly, that is just beyond the pale.

Do you have an alternative solution?

America dropped two atomic bombs at Japanese civilian zones during WWII to stop the war in the name of peace. There were majority normal civilians going about their daily routines with no defense whatsoever as Japan was already on the way to be defeated.

You now try to argue another view? You have no leg to stand on.

Ukraine is winning.  Russia has made a massive mistake and they know it.  The solution is to give Ukraine whatever they need to empty their land of rapist, torturing war criminals.  Putin wont use Nukes because they will give him no military advantage and will only serve to hasten his demise.

And since that time the world has done it's utmost to avoid having to repeat that!

You are justifying option number 2, which is fine if you wish to drag on a long war but it will be a long war.

I choose option 1 for the reasons above. Nothing weird about that as past precedent was set.

And since that time the world has done it’s utmost to avoid having to repeat that!

Really? Why are they stockpiling the nuclear arms then? Even after WWII they never stopped developing much more powerful weapons. This is really weapon of mass destruction but yet they all consider it as a deterrent.

China has a VERY good reason to rein China in as a global recession is an existential threat to it's government and stability.

I think you are wrong.  Ukraine has huge momentum and Russian forces have proved to be poorly led, unmotivated,  ill equipped, and strategically inept. Their logistics are in tatters and they are sending the scum of their prison system and untrained kids into the fight in desperation. It will (IMO) be over by the end of next year.  But even if it took ten years that would be better than the Armageddon you clearly get off on.

Nothing weird about that

I humbly beg to differ!

The BBC reports that Putin has said there's no need for any more massive strikes on Ukraine. Does that mean he's run out of missiles?

It sounds like Putin has run out of tanks and artillery, or at least running low.

Nevermind re-supply logistics for ammunition, food, medical supplies and clothing (for soldiers)to operate. Winter is coming.

I think it means that the west has donated the air defence Ukraine wanted

https://twitter.com/JackDetsch/status/1580948754735431680?t=D6eD_nEyKOpJMFO2piHoSg&s=19

This is a interesting

https://twitter.com/bigtomsky/status/1580951777716731905?t=efhZAUQDHLKfv9Gmnoi9mg&s=19

At this point I think putin just might be realising the game is up, he'll negotiate to keep as much as he can, and hope to rebuild his broken army , I'm not sure Ukraine will let him, whatever musk says

It's a busted flush, Putin gambled wrong.

This won't stop until Russia go home and Ukraine get Crimea back. Simple as that.

Not sure retaking Crimea will be that easy
But don't see how pumping untrained & ill equipped troops to fight through the winter ends up in nothing but defeat for Russia in large parts of the south and east

Very early on in this thread I criticised our troll and got a chastisement from some of the pompous know-alls this forum attracts. By all means Chewy let's hear your views but try and read the room.

The bridge is already almost knocked out. It can be knocked out harder soon, but Ukraine will let it get almost repaired (attrition) before hitting it again... read the room.

As for chewk, he often has some insight and offers a different perspective that is shared by a big chunk of the world, including asia (it's bollox mind, but he's not alone)

I think for many that bought into the tough guy Putin propoganda, he was a last bastion of the oldskool strongman type against the woke & decadent west, and for plenty of right wingers here in Europe & America , Putin's humiliation is tough for them to take

I'd say it'd be just as easy (or hard!) as the rest of the occupied territories. Ukraine has the momentum, they've done nothing but exceed expectations so far, I'd say they have a fighting chance of taking Crimea back too.

If Ukraine expel Russian troops from the south of Ukraine and permanently knock out the bridge, Russia will struggle to resupply Crimea. I don't know much about the terrain, but I suspect that defending Crimea might be difficult for the Russians, basically any troops or equipment they send there would not be able to retreat back to Russia and would probably be captured by Ukraine. Ukraine would be able to just cut the Russian supply lines then wait for the Russian troops to starve.

The US is sending another $725mn in immediate aid to Ukraine. Mainly weapons but some medical aid too.
A quick summary from the Ukraine Defence Contact Group in Brussels is included in the same article
