I am happy to accept that I am missing something here.
Use the forum on a tablet has become a pain. Lets say I get in a couple of layers, say page3 of a post. To get back to the overview with its list of the 4 sections, well I can't. Its noe either back, back, back for miles or part about with the ladder on the top left and go out then in. What happened to the 4 sections always being at the top?
What am I doing wrong? Being stupid could well be one thing of course 😀

Click 'Forum overview' bottom centre.

It's the redesign. It's made it somewhat more complicated to navigate. They are working on it apparently but don't hold your breath. You might find slightly better navigation options switching between portrait and landscape. Also there is a link burried in the 3 line menu at the top as well as another a bit too small to easily click on at the bottom.

"request desktop site" - much better to use than the mobile site

On a tablet ATM

At the top of the screen in either landscape or portrait mode there's a line of links to each forum as well as the overview. Tap top of browser address bar to get to top of the screen then choose the forum to go to, so two taps to move around

At some point they might go back to the old version that is considerably better than this one - assuming that technology is an important part of the business model. If not, they might stick with this awful version.

Whitestone.
No there isn't.
Just that set of 3 bars that hides a list.

Have you not got a menu like this at the bottom?

The forum overview should take you back. Its very handy, just needs to be bigger and easier click. I keep clicking terms and conditions or forum help 😥

Yup that's part of the current layout, you can click on them for some options

Along with the inability to zoom the page in any way on my pad, I also can't see those three icons along the bottom.
It appears that all of the new features only work on the latest iteration of iOS.

I think it's just the fashion to replace websites that work well with shit ones. Smile bank did it last year, now STW have done it. I don't understand why, it just seems to be the thing to do.

used to work really well for me on android and PC, android version ius now a PITA as you only get half the thread titles, can't go to the last post, see the age of the last post or get the last page of any thread with a resonable sized title. That and the mass of white is still burning through my retinas on the desktop version

@mattscm what tablet, operating system and browser? Without at least that info any complaint of "it doesn't work" is pointless.

The hamburger menu icon has been common, almost standard, om mobile sites for several years now.

I'm on iOS and several iteration behind the latest version as my iPad is so old it can't run it, all is working well.

Glad it's not just me who thinks new forum is still a far worse experience.

There's an obession for change in business ...seen as progressive and important. Unfortunately it can trump common sense. The old system worked.

For ease of reference can we keep them to the one thread for ease.
