Seriously thinking about buying the sonos s5 and sonos zp 90 for my home. Want to have music in my bedroom -s5, and in the lounge - zp90 connected to my hi fi. My pc will play music also in another room via connected speakers. Will use i-phone app as the controller. Is sonos the best option?? Also where best to buy from?
mate has bought one. Loves it. I had to help him set it up, but then if you use itunes and the library that goes with it, all will be well.
Their hand held controller is nicer than the iphone app
cheers - was it easy to set up??
where did he buy it from??
No idea where he got it from,as Baz is a bit of a HiFi buff, could have been anywhere.
It has it's own wireless network, so more radio waves in your house. Other than that the software loads on the PC and set up is simple enough. Point the software at your music library, so long as it isn't Windows lossless format :(, but it likes AAC and all things Apple, and it sorts your music like itunes, as iv via metadata on the music file, so no need to complicate your digital library.
I like it.
It's cheaper to find on the usual web stores, since Sonos has been rolled out for sale in 'regular' shops, the price of the unit has come down dramatically and making hardly any profit on the item - installation is where its at.
Anyway.
Yes, easy to setup and use. Good Product 😉

My wife used to sell them and thought they were ace! When we have some "spare" money we'll be getting one.
Guy I know set himself up as an importer to get his kit cheaper. Not sure if he carried on with it after he got his house and office fitted out though.
Seriously look at the logitech gear first... Does exactly the same job at a quarter of the price. I looked at the Sonos system and then ended up with the logitech kit for far far less dosh. Gets very good reviews for sound quality as well....

The Logitech stuff can be had cheap at Richer Sounds.
£230 for the Squeezbox Duet (controller and 1 receiver), £80 for an additional receiver which can be plugged into an existing amp & speakers. Quite tempted to try that myself.
The also do the Sonus stuff - £750 for a 2-zone system.
The logitech stuff is very good. Richer sounds was the cheapest place I found the Duet (Reciever thingummy which is plugged into my main stereo in the office, and the remote control).
Then got one of the radios for the kitchen (also connects to internet radio and has widgets to show facebook status updates and flickr photos on the little colour screen; amongst others). This ended up in the bedroom as a radio alarmclock and I got another radio for the kitchen. Cheapest place I have found for the radios is e-bay.
They are bringing out a battery pack thingummy next month for the radios that fits inside it and makes it truely wireless, will mean I can listen to it out on the decking whilst fettling.
