Parliament - Come in Out of the Rain (from their early, far less funky stuff!)

Janis Joplin - One Night Stand.

November Rain. I think it's more due to good memories at the time than the actual song.

Nice, I don’t know either of those two tracks. I really like Parliament & Funkadelic, I take it that’s an early track?

Very early Parliament - when they were still trying to be a bit of a soul band.

Here's another one. Early Tom Waits, don't hear it played much, but I adore it.

It would be great to find someone with an up to date knowledge, with the ear for a great track like martinhutch has. Not sure DezB is the man for me 😉

I probably am alone on this one but Quite the fan of kishorn commandos by North sea gas.

Despite the band name it's only recently I realised it was about building the ninians at kishorn in the 70s.

I just liked the jolly tune.

That's because you only want to hear "up to date" stuff that sounds like old stuff. 6Music is playlisted for your kind.

I understand why you say that, but I’m not sure it’s true. A problem I have is knowing where to start looking and the modern music that gets recommended often sounds like b-rate attempts at an old sound. There is so much old music I am unaware of that it’s not a huge problem for me. But, it would be great to hear something new that spoke to the times. However, I will concede the problem probably lies with me.
Ps 6Music is not my cup of tea unfortunately.

Here's some new stuff I've bought that I don't know anybody else who likes it. And I don't personally think any of it is trying to sound like old stuff.

I love all of the first 6 Sabbath albums, but back in the day I don’t remember any of my friends liking Sabotage much. I have listened to ‘Hole in the sky’ thousands of times, I still have no idea what it is about. I don’t know anything about music theory, but I love the way for me Sabbath’s songs pull you forward whilst holding you back at the same time, until they let you soar - something to do with Bill Ward’s drumming I think.

DezB, I will give your tracks a good listen, thanks.

Just a nicely crafted pop song well sung with a nice vid that tells a tale. I can forsee some slagging for this tho.

Seriously can't describe how grateful I feel that I get to listen to this amazing music. Mrs Rider can't describe how grateful she feels for my owning these amazing closed-back headphones. (Lightbulb! - maybe that explains why she got them me as a 'surprise' gift 😏)

9b0 - Bullethell

I really like the whole Error album and am surprised it's never been used in advertising and tv! Bullethell, Nothing Makes Sense and Used To Be A Raver are epic.

http://www.glackaudio.com/releases/GLAUA01/

There aren't even any YT vids just some dodgy remixes from stems released about a year or two after the album came out!

tjagain: I only have the free version, but I do listen to it occasionally. The ‘weekly list’ ‘ is often very good, but it never recommends anything later than the 70’s 😁

Ol’55 is early Waites, before he started to get a bit more experimental. This one I love to bits, but maybe not to everyone’s taste...

I once put this album on, and a friend (who may have taken some mushrooms) accused me of putting on 'evil' music.

However, I find it really relaxing and uplifting 😁 this tune in particular, it's like a magic blend of Aphex Twin and Jaco Pastorius.

Barely any connection to Ol’55 in this ‘tune’...

Tom Waites ‘The Earth Died Screaming’, from Bone Machine

Before the days of paid child care my brother and I would have our Unkle Rob look after us for some of the school holidays. He was my Dad's younger brother and drove lots of earth movers ,so when I heard this song for the first time,I went straight out and bought a copy to send to my brother. You would get arrested now for taking two kids along the road in the cab of a JCB but we felt like lords of the highways (ok,mostly B roads). It makes me smile.

Loads here that I've never heard. Looking fwd to sampling 👍🏼 OP, yeah none of my school-friends (excepting the one I discovered) had Sabotage. I got lucky as he gave me the LP to say 'sorry' for breaking my Saxon 'Wheels Of Steel' single 🤣😂 Best deal ever. I'd never even heard of it. Nearly forty years on and Sabotage still gets regular rotation from me. Immensely good, and genuinely groundbreaking on a number of levels Anyway... I said I'd dig some songs out, this page kept crashing so many attempts later!

Gas - Pop (#7)

Magma - Zombies (live)

Campag Velocet - Ain't No Funki Tangerine

Television, now there’s a band with an enviable work ethic! Three albums in 42 years, the most recent 27 years ago!
Great band, lucky enough to have seen them three times.
