Sounds about right. Last season we paid £2 for our seat, £20 for a bag and £80 for skis. It's crazy isn't it?

To be fair you pay £30 each way with pretty much everyone. BA used to be free, but even they now charge.

how else do you expect them to make a profit? e.g flights £16 one way LeedsBradford - Dublin?

Yep plus an extra fee for actually paying for the flight.

The headline price bears no resemblance to the actual final price.

true but they're still exceptionally cheap.
Some folks pay £10 each way for "priority" boarding?
I wait until the queue has almost boarded, then join the queue, get an aisle seat, carry-on pilot case beneath the seat in front, off the plane way quicker than the "priority boarding" people. how is that £10 well spent?

I'm waiting for the oxygen masks to drop with an "insert one Euro" coinslot 😉

true, but where's the fun in that?

best thing about Ryanair flights is the fanfare when it arrives on time

bikes with sleazyjet were 25 each way last summer
yup
sports equipment 27 eachway according to this
http://www.easyjet.com/en/fees-and-charges

lyinair
50 quid each way according to this
http://www.ryanair.com/en/terms-and-conditions#regulations-checkedbaggage

thats why i flew with BA last time i went to the mega as it worked out cheaper! (has to be under 23kg and they class it as normal baggae)

Try Monarch if they fly to your destination. I've flow to Mallorca a few times with my bike and they only charge £20 each way. Flight prices not bad either.

Even on ski packages with Monarch / Thomson, they'll charge £30 each way for skis, that's on top of £1k/week skiing package (or more depending on where / when).

Travel with a civilised airline, swissair don't charge for skis or boards.
They fly from London City to Geneva and they were as good as air travel gets without silly money.....

It is generally cheaper to stay indoors at home...

Just avoid the advertising and fares on page 1, the cost is only apparent at the end. You think it's expensive as each part of the fare is added on incrementally. You just asked for something more.

Continental were $200 from Portland back to Edinburgh, they initially wanted $400, but I was having none of it. It's made me think a little more about future bike trips to the US

+1 for swissair, just booked to Geneva with them, free bag up to 23kg and free ski/board carriage, about 50 quid cheaper a head than any on the 'budget' alternatives once you layer on all the extras, plus you get free peanuts!
