AA, if the Georgian No 18 thought the ball was dropped and loose why did he completely miss it and hit Ashton's arm? Clear at 33s on DezB's clip

Anti-England sentiment clouding a_a's judgement I'm afraid.

The Georgian fella is clearly late and had plenty of time to just jump over Ashton. 2 weeks for Lawes' offence was harsh.

Can't watch this one, sadly. Seems I was very, very wrong about the scoreline. Still, I suppose that's good for Italy!

I hope they do, Darcy. Two reasons....
1 - It'll stiffen Irish sinews for later matches (and/or knacker them out for when they face the Welsh! ๐Ÿ˜‰ )
2 - It's good for world rugby to see the second string nations do well!

I'd like to see the Russkis recover from here, Rugby scores are so "sensitive", a small difference in ability leads to enormous differences in scores, which is good but it can hide how well the losers are doing. I feel like the Russians are so nearly there..

Brilliant try, that Russian had all the time in the world!

Jings Jon; I opened that at work

Apologies. I never ever open clips in work just in case, so forgot about the NSFW bit. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Russia did pretty well considering where they are coming from. 3 tries, a sniff of a bonus point and lots of good experience to take through to the Irish game, where they'll undoubtedly be victorious. ๐Ÿ˜†

NZ Col I thought that as well. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Wasn't the cracker I thought it was going to be Japan made to many errors and the counter rucking by Tonga was pretty fierce.

I am always the kiss of death when I say I am going to support someone. I apologise to the nation of Japan.

Morgan Parra at fly half for France against NZ? WTF?

The French seem to have picked a less than full strength side although, with Lievremont at the helm, does anyone know what a full strength side would look like?

A blog I was on pointed out that France winning this game would benefit BOTH sides. The French will be desperate to avoid England who seem to be their bogey team in RWCs and would surely rather play Sco/Arg followed by SA/Aus.

NZ would probably rather have a couple of sterner tests against Eng then Ire/Wales instead of a 40pt walkover followed by a battle hardened Tri-Nations adversary.

(Of course, Scotland may beat England, Ireland lose to Italy and SA lose to Samoa so none of this may happen anyway.)

The main point seems to be - WHAT ARE THE FRENCHIES DOING?

WHAT ARE THE FRENCHIES DOING?

Has anybody ever been able to answer that? Seems a bizarre team selection all the same though - nobody goes out to lose a game but I suspect they'd prefer to be on the Ireland/Wales/England side of the QFs - as you say, that's assuming rather a lot.

I'm saying no more till we've played the Azurri

EDIT: also agree, I have no idea what a "full strength" France side looks like. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Pigface - your obvious bias must have been what brought the Japanese down. They probably didn't take your support seriously as your love for them is just a by product of your hatred for us. I imagine that's a killer blow. ๐Ÿ˜†

It's reserved at the moment toys19. I can only see one team sinking that far though ๐Ÿ˜‰

In twitter news:

Why cant the Scots have their bagpipes - just for the record NZ troops went into battle at El Alamien following an Eighth Army piper

Scots can't bring bagpipes into the ground? WTF?

Have the Saffers got their Vuvus or what?

Musical instuments and car parts are banned. WTF can I do with the knackered steering rack now?

[url= http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/14981651.stm ]

Scotland's sports minister Shona Robison has written to tournament organisers to ask them to allow fans to play bagpipes at matches involving Andy Robinson's side. Musical instruments are on a long list of items banned from stadiums which also includes umbrellas, vuvuzelas and car parts. (The Scotsman)
