R I P Rico a little bit of my youth has gone. Thanks for opening my ears to a lot of music that I might never have heard otherwise

Saw him a few times at Jools Holland gigs. Masses of talent producing such a diverse range of sounds, apparently effortlessly, from a trombone. He was a bit doddery the last time we saw him and too infirm to join the latest tour. Must have been a fascinating journey from his early days in Cuba to working with and being so highly regarded by many great musicians.
