AC4 new Swedish hardcore band featuring Dennis and David of Refused 'fame'. Touring the UK very soon, going to watch them at Southampton Joiners.

Have been listening to last year's Dillinger Four album 'C I V I L W A R'
a lot too recently.

Spermbirds are currently touring their new album with able support by Youth of Today (who don't look as young as they did when I saw them in 1991!)

Quality. I watched them at rebellion fest this year and I thought they were good.

Random Hand were better though

Refused are f'ing excellent - 'shape of punk to come' is an awesome album.

EDIT:-

Having listened to AC4 they are definitely more pure punk than Refused - refused were far more inventive, experimental and varied.

Not listened to "dealing with it" for a long time, but it's a classic.

As far as I'm concerned Against Me! split up shortly after I saw them touring As the Eternal Cowboy at the Well in Leeds.

AC4 thus far sound a bit like a Swedish Black Flag. Refused were more interesting, I think.

Strike Anywhere and Against Me! here...

I've seen Strike Anywhere too many times over the past decade, lost interest after Exit English, but the ep and those first two albums are excellent.

Watching Against Me with ****ed Up in Southampton on 22nd October. Last time I watched Against Me was at the Joiners (also in Southampton...that was about six years ago). Haven't heard any of their stuff since eternal cowboy though.

the two newest songs on there, catastrophising and mercurial, are so good!

Best melodic HC in the UK right now?

I think they've split, but The Steal get my vote:

A couple of decent local bands:

Attack! Vipers! from Portsmouth (not really meloduc HC though):

OTDH from Southampton:

the steal split a while ago. some of them have a new band; can't remember the name though and can't be @rsed to go looking! the steal were disappointing when i saw em in manc a couple of years back, but they did play with sceptres and sh!tty limits who were both on top form that night. sceptres always are though.

and i can't get into OTDH- not a big fan of the whole gruff punk thing at all.

Ahh, The Meteors. I've got a loft full of old psychobilly vinyl. Must invest in one of those turntables that convert to mp3.

At one point Strike Anywhere seemed to be getting better every time I saw them, the last time (a fair while ago now...) they seemed to be just going through the motions in comparison.

I can't listen to Harbour because my interweb is being poop, but I will... I must admit to having something of a soft spot for Bangers at the moment.

I used t love a bit of punk, but allways the slightly less 'shouty' stuff. I was listening to Rancid 'and out come the wolves' earlier. Brilliant

As an aside, if anyone into Against Me! would like the tour DVD 'We're Never Going Home', drop me an email and I'll send it over... be great if after you've watched it you could send it on again (assuming someone else who's interested comes along!).

Quite liked Ceremonys last album, Rohnert Park. Sounds like Black Flag, in a good way.

Can't believe Pennywise and NOFX haven't been mentioned yet. Or The Damned, or The Clash. THE RAMONES. Must stop now or I'll just keep going on. Punk's not dead, it just smells at way.

Am I correct in thinking that leatherface was part of the Snuff/wat tyler various vegetables collective?

They toured with snuff, wat tyler and the like early 90's i think. They are touring again now and are back on form, writing excellent songs. True mackem legends.
