I do at least see a positive in that Farage's antics are starting to gain traction in the press as a whole, and therefore slowly into the public. I do think though that Labour should be leading the way with this ,as our press are too slow, but I realise that can be dangerous for Labour, in particular the "Red Wall" voters, but Farage and by extension Reform do seem to be very thin skinned and both have plenty to answer for.
Look across the pond. There is an orange embodiment of an appalling human being in power who takes every awful trait and act of Farage's and squares it. Yet the people voted for him. Twice. The problem isn't Farage - it's the people that enable him to have power - the voting public.
I think there is a fundamental difference between the level of corruption or impropriety that the UK public is prepared to turn a blind eye to versus the US. Look at the outcry over the MPs expenses scandal.
Yes there is a hardcore of Farage fanatics that will support him no matter what, but it nowhere near enough to win a general election. Reform need the support of the lapsed Tories and the "politically homeless" who for whatever reason are willing to give Reform a try as they think that Reform represent a change from the establishment. Reform's anti-establishment credentials (such as they are) begin to look pretty ridiculous when your party leader clearly has his snout firmly in the same trough as all the others.
Look at the outcry over the MPs expenses scandal.
That was 2009 - 17 years ago. A lot has changed in 17 years.
The discipline of members of parliament and government ministers relies a lot on personal and party honour. If he's found guilty in any of these complaints the worst that'll happen is he is suspended from the house of commons for a few days. In a different party that might mean having the whip withdrawn and being deselected. Obviously this won't happen here. Government ministers are kept in step by being found guilty of breaching the ministerial 'code' and having the personal integrity to resign or be sacked by the PM. If/when he gets to power, you reckon that will happen when the inevitable sleaze and corruption becomes public?
If he is suspended I will put my money on a big press conference about a corrupt system trying to gag him, a protest march of some flag shaggers, and his poll rating actually going up.
Its already pretty clear that the various donations scandals are starting to hurt Farage politically. As an issue it clearly has "cut through". Farage is finally facing some actual scrutiny and is clearly squirming.

The roundabout painters aren't enough to get Farage into power and the fash vote is being split by Restore too.
If he is suspended I will put my money on a big press conference about a corrupt system trying to gag him,
He might go for a friendly interview but cant see him doing a press conference since, whilst technically you dont have to answer questions as part of it, its still not a good look when you run away from questions.
If he is suspended
I doubt anyone would notice

No way will he want to answer questions, I’m still not sure he’d be able to ride out the corrupt system gagging him angle when he’s literally swimming in cash and constantly on the telly.
Quiet retirement from politics (with parting shot of the corrupt establishment spiel) and await the x million to return in 3 years hoping people forgot his strop over getting caught with the 5mill and him actually looking like the establishment.
Play the martyr before the comeback.
Still can’t be long before we know…..
Ha, get it right up ya you orange frog faced cock sucking ****er………let’s hope the stress bring on the well deserved debilitating stroke
Absolutely zero chance of him ever becoming PM
Im going to stick my neck out and say that farage won't be leading Reform by the next GE
the question is, what happens to Reform PLC when hes no longer in charge?
No doubt he'll run off with his tail between his legs then start posting on YouTube about dark powers conspiring against him. Throw in an, "only god can judge me" comment for good measure before he starts the lucrative American speaking tours of the bat shit crazy states and podcasts with Joe Rogan etc.
Why would he want to be pm? He’d have to actually do some work and be accountable.
So much easier to moan about stuff rather than fix it. ****.
Exactly, he would never want to be PM and it was always going to be tricky going into an election because what if Reform won? The thing is though that a lot of Reform votes are probably based on the fact he is the leader so if he goes and they put in Jenrick? (who would want to be PM) I can see Reform votes going downward
Why would he want to be pm? He’d have to actually do some work and be accountable.
Dunno Johnson mostly dodged the work thing although eventually did get held somewhat accountable. I can see him wanting the job just to tick the box and show all the naysayers wrong just as he did with his being elected mp 8th time round. Although of course in that case the question is whether he did want to prove people wrong or did five million influence him.
Its odd reading/hearing some of the journalists. News Agents last night was talking about his political skill and how he would somehow turn it to his advantage by claiming it was an attack on him.
So his normal approach of either joke it away/hurl abuse and claim persecution then. The difference now is that for whatever reason journalists are starting to do their job and ask follow ups and he is absolutely flailing.
To make a statement about his Future in Public Life at 2pm, apparently.

Is he off to spend more time with his money?
Please, please, please let it be his resignation and as he makes it have a live feed on Honest Bobs face 🤣
Well, Trump has stood up for him (as he did the USA striker)... so perhaps we're about to get lucky.
I can't stand the guy, but why is this getting to him so much?
Isn't there a populist playbook of blaming mainstream media, mudslinging, hit jobs etc?
The angrier he gets, the more it makes him look guilty.
To make a statement about his Future in Public Life at 2pm, apparently.
I try not to wish ill to people but for some I make an exception. While i absolutely don't suggest intervention, the day he 'withdraws from life in general' there won't be any tears shed here.
He probably worked out the game was over when GB News turned on him.
I can't stand the guy, but why is this getting to him so much?
Because he knows that the media have only scratched the surface, and now they have the scent, they're going to find much more of his other dodgy money?
But who knows... the contradictory lies about his house buying should have been enough to see him step down as leader... it would have in any other (real) political party.
I can't stand the guy, but why is this getting to him so much?
Because this is the first time in his life that he's ever been subjected to this kind of scrutiny, and just look what it's unearthed. Remember that the 5 million bung and these latest revelations are only what we know about SO FAR. Does anybody honestly believe that that's the lot? That there are no more skeletons in the closet? That there's nothing else to come out?
Maybe he's getting ahead of the game and getting out before his position becomes untenable anyway?
Maybe the donors are getting a bit uncomfortable with any upcoming investigations.
Saw a rumour he's not well on the socials yesterday, assumed it was wishcasting
Does anybody honestly believe that that's the lot?
He's bought something like 4-5 houses and has property amounting £5/6M before he reported he got the bung (sorry gift) from his crypto mate/handler. He's hardly ever in Clapton, doesn't own a property in the constituency and (like when he was in the EU) has the worst attendance record of any MP. His MP salary is a pittance compared to his declared for GB News (a reported £700,000) and shilling for gold (£650,000) so I'm not surprised he can't be bothered with actually being one.
To make a statement about his Future in Public Life at 2pm, apparently
I will bet the traditional Greggs pastie, that it is to make threats to news agencies that he'll sue them (he won't) and to portray himself as a victim of the Establishment who're trying to silence him.
Sadly, there's a pretty sizable chunk of the population who'll think that its true.
He's hardly ever in Clapton
That typo conjures up really unpleasant images.
Saw a rumour he's not well on the socials yesterday
Oh
Classic move of the schoolboy bully.....when the heat turns on you, throw a sympathy sicky to keep your head down. Anyone that attempts to keep on digging into his affairs when he's feeling a bit dicky looks like the arse.
doesn't own a property in the constituency
Well... he both does and doesn't own a property in the constituency, depending on whether he's trying to win over voters or deal with his tax affairs.
Well, if he does back out of poliics can we please share it with the Orange Mussolini as a hint?
Weapons-grade, Brexity bell-end Tim Montgomery has just been on Radio 4, and the rumors are that Nige 'needs a break' from all this pressure, as he shoulders the responsibility of ALL the decision making within Reform.
Saw a rumour he's not well on the socials yesterday
That would be the icing on the cake. Out of politics and out of existence. Seeya Nige!
The details in the Farage stories don't matter. Public just hear just that he's been taking loads of money off people and that one of them has been inside. If more comes out then it prolongs and reinforces the story. Undermines his "I'm different to all them other politicians" bs
Listened to the guy from the Times who broke the latest story and he said Jenrick essentially confirmed all the details on Kuenssberg on Sunday - so there only defence is nothing to see here and it's a left wing elite Labour supporting media (the Times!!?) stitch up, which sounds like whining to the wider world

Farage is many things, but I don't think he is an idiot. And unless he is certain that there are no more skeletons to unearth, this would be pretty idiotic. The press are starting to smell blood in the water, even the normally pliant outlets are starting to shift against him.
He can no longer position himself as a political outsider, he leads a party that is polling above the two traditional political parties, his days of ignoring scrutiny are over.
His options are simple.
Front up and explain his financial affairs, which would need to included disclosure of all the stuff that still to be unearthed.
Or, slither away...
I think hell try and slime his way out with as little honesty as he thinks he can get away with while squealing "establishment deep state witch hunt"
Guess we'll find out shortly maybe
I think hell try and slime his way out with as little honesty as he thinks he can get away with while squealing "establishment deep state witch hunt"
100% this
please let it be his resignation and as he makes it have a live feed on Honest Bobs face
No chance of that. No one could move the camera fast enough to catch him heading off to apply to be leader.
I am really curious what it will be. I think its the first time he has been under proper scrutiny so could go any way.
No media presence for questions. Why not, I wonder?
You got to hand it to them....a live feed provided directly by the Reform party, not via the cameras of the filthy corrupt media and no journalists present..... broadcast live by every media outlet. I'm not sure any of the main parties would even think you could get away for asking for that!
No media presence for questions. Why not, I wonder?
Obviously a scheduling issue. The BBC should troll him and invite him to do desert island discs this week.
Poor Nige is talking about how being a politician made him so poor.
