No kidding. So all those cultural touchstone that folks use as short cuts (on here especially) “These aren’t the droids” “Nuke it from orbit” “I have seen things you people wouldn’t believe” and on and on and on, must go straight over your head.

indeed.  no idea what films any of those quotes are from and probably many others besides.

How is Jurassic Park (brilliant film, by the way) not science fiction? It’s literally a fictional tale about impossible/futuristic science. It doesn’t have to have ray guns and little green men to be science fiction

yep, got me there, i do generally tend to think of SF as space/star trek/star wars/aliens etc, and dinosaurs as 'not SF' because they actually existed, but.......according to wikipedia.......

Science fiction (or sci-fi) is a film genre that uses speculative, fictional science-based depictions of phenomena that are not fully accepted by mainstream science, such as extraterrestrial lifeforms, spacecraft, robots, cyborgs, dinosaurs, mutants, interstellar travel, time travel, or other technologies.

..... it looks like its only the dinosaurs that ive mebbes got wrong.   and that list does actually reinforce the fact that i still believe i havent seen a SF film and probably never will.

Watched a single episode of

Corrie, Emmerdale, Breaking Bad, The Office, Father Ted, Mrs Browns Boys (crap, so I hear), Game of Thrones, Seinfeld, Star Trek NG

Seen any of the following movies/series

Shrek, The Hobbit, GodFather, Sopranos, Too Fast/Furious,

Played any variations of

GTA, Minecraft, Halo, CoD, Pokemon, Fifa, Sonic t H, etc etc

Most of these popular cultural references were going on around me, but not to me.

That is shame and I hate to tell you it is one of the most sublime feelings in the world. Probably better than Heroin or a threesome.

not even by accident from just not shaving for a bit? I can’t imagine living with a clean shaven face.

On a related note, I’ve never used a Bulldog or other rotary trimmer on my head. Mainly because I know they’ll be shit compared to a razor.

Not believing this one, science fiction covers a huge spectrum of films, not just space films.

Yeah, I'm struggling to belive this.. I mean Jurrasic park is technically Sci-fi...

Never, ever laughed at a Michael McIntyre joke. Never watched more than a trailer for any of his shows, and found even that about as funny as herpes.

Trusted a man who; if left alone in a room, doesn’t try on the tea-cosy as a hat.

Have you just ported in from the 1950’s? Tea-cosy? Seriously? I can say, quite honestly, I haven’t seen one in use for around sixty years.

It's a fair point, I don't think anyone's used a tea cosy since world war 2, for keeping a tea pot warm.

In more modern times we boil just enough water to fill a couple of cups...

The days of the stove-top tea-pot are over, unless you have a super-fancy arga range cooker type thing.

Long live the modern 3000w kettle.

i accept that, and havent seen that either ;-). i just have no interest in films like that, never have even as a kid.  never watched bond, indiana jones, dinosaurs, planet of the apes and certainly never any space films.

and there was me thinking that not having known what the prime minister looked like would be the one most people would find hard to believe 😀

Say what! I'm surrounded by heathens!  Tea cosy in every day use in our house. Tea, made in a pot (which has been pre warmed) and allowed to brew tastes so much better than just slapping a tea bag around a mug of hot water. It's like the difference between coffee made from freshly ground beans and Nescafé.

A seasonally appropriate tea cosy out in the wild in rural Shropshire just now.

Seriously. My mum has a brown teapot that must be 60? years old at least (it was her mother's before she inherited it) and has a light blue knitted cosy on it.

would be the one most people would find hard to believe

The Bond films must be so ubiquitous that its almost impossible not to see them by accident just flicking through the channels on any given wet Sunday afternoon.

Watched that program about the nerds and the blonde. Can't even recall what it's called.

Tell a lie. I watched about a minute of an episode on YouTube where they removed the canned laughter and the clip I saw was horrendously weird.
