Beer of champions or beer of alcoholics?

Tasty stuff but 6.6%? not sure whether to go for the 2nd bottle

Love the stuff. I normally get a few 750mm bottles in when watching the F1 and am often a bit squiffy by the time it finishes.

Go for the second bottle and feel a bit giddy.

I really, really, really hope that your quandry is brought about by the 750ml bottle and NOT the 330ml... If the former, 2 bottles is about right. For the latter 4 should be a minimum goal.

Oh, and beer of the Gods.

Beer of champions or beer of alcoholics?

neither, not a patch on hommelbier, Maredsous, chimay, affligem, grimburgen and countless other blonde beers.
like john Smiths is to Bitter Leffe is on the same level
imho.

Those that MrSmith mention are better but harder to get hold of.
If you're talking Leffe then I much prefer Brun.

It was the beer of my stag do. Weekend on the ale in Ostend compete with a cheese and well p155ed off oompah band. I can't drink it anymore. It was a great stag do though.

I think I had 17 or 18 normal size bottles that night!

Three things.

1. You can get 750ml bottles of Duvel?
2. Where from?
3. Isnt it "only" 8.5%?

It's quite good beer IMO but quite pokey. I do quite like that style and it's presented nicely in the bottle. I probably prefer the blonde. I actually prefer Munich beer! Leffe's often reduced in price in the local Tesco, so I get it from time to time.

I don't think you can reasonably compare it tins of John Smith's!

I think the point being made is it's the John Smiths equivalent of blond beers ie easily available, standard fair, reasonable mass production standard example of etc etc. InBev product I believe. It's good as a starting point and accessible, but lots of better examples of the same theme, if you can find them (some mentioned above).

It is very good for what you can get with the weekly shop in 750ml bottles and not go mooching for a real beer shop when you have no time to yourself anyway.

Regardless of what stereotype/how fashionable etc you make leffe its my favourite beer.

I'm really pleased the halfway stop (Golden Lion Osmotherby) on one of my favourite rides from home has Leffe on tap!

Bought a bottle of Sierra Nevada Torpedo from Waitrose today, its 7.2% but one the best tasting beers I've had. Hope this doesn't mean I'm an alcoholic!

My wife is Belgian and my in-laws are very generous with beer gifts. They also have an exceptionally well stocked beer/wine cellar (2 actually). I therefore consider my self well versed in the art of Belgian monastic beer consumption. I thoroughly recommend you try St Feuillien blonde if you can get hold of it. Yum.
