Hi all,

I am looking to buy a new laptop for work use only. The main usage would be PR related, including, article/photo editing (running applications such as MS Publisher, Photoshop, Coral, etc) my budget is low though, only £400 very max.

Can anyone recommend a laptop on the market at a good price (online)?

I am looking to get as many opinions as possible before buying. My last laptop was an Acer and I was never really that happy with it...

Frankly, I'd just have a look at the Dell web site and choose one matching your budget. I presume you already have the software?

Check out ebuyer and the Dell outlook store. The latter is totally genuine, but if you find something you want then snap it up quickly because stock sometimes disappears in minutes.

If you can't find what you want new, then look at second hand options. I recently needed to buy a PC and laptop but wanted VFM, solid spec and reliabilty/support - opted for a couple of HP machines and saved approx £1500 on RRP from 12-18 months ago.

Bargains do exist.

Just check out some reviews before jumping in.

Photoshop really needs 4Gb of RAM to run well nowadays, i struggle with my 3Gb

Dell are ok but the lower budget ones are not very good build quality. I've yet to see a budget laptop that i'd be happy to take out on the road yet. Some of the Dells have high screen resolutions as well now which is good for PS work
