Thinking about a new toy
Is there a decent Kite for about £20-50
What do people have?
We have a couple of these HQs for the beach.
Fly/launch easy and can zip along when the wind gets up.
We used to do drink cans and balloon on stick targets when the kids were wee.Great fun.
We have a HQ Symphony Beach III for simple, 2-line stuff (packs down very small too as there's no solid handles). Got a smaller one as it's often blowing a gale down at my parents, but a bigger one would work well in lighter winds. Easily within budget.
How many lines? HQ make good quality two-line soft stunt kites.
Me, I like a nice big single line kite. A delta will always make a good starter kite. Here's a good range. I have the 11ft mesh delta - not a starter kite, but a good flier!

Plenty of other nice kites there too. A £40 Rokkaku will look very nice in the sky and fly well. My current favorite all-wind single line kite is a white Canard.
And then there are Revolutions for when I want a proper stunt kite 😉
I've got a 4.5 metre Flysurfer foil you can have for that sort of money. I bought it lightly used maybe 10 years ago and flew it a few times but it's sat in the shed since then. Some of my friends at the time were getting into kitesurfing and I had ideas about following them but never did. It's a ram air design and claimed to be water relaunchable by the manufacturer although I've never tried. Being a flat foil it's supposed to generate the same pull as a 9 metre inflatable arch style kite. Make me an offer if you're interested.
