Waiting to board and am amazed Hohenzollern many suits use Bluetooth ear things while the phone is in their hand at approxately nipple level.
Are they really so important that they cannot use their hands to hold the phone to the ear?
Maybe the sunshine brings them out.

Maybe they're afriad of brain cancer?
Or possibly they're the intelligent ones who actually use BT hands-free while driving, and are just used to doing it that way.

They could be cyborgs. Pull the earpiece out and see if they explode...

Maybe it's a nipple interface...

Were they queuing at the gate before the operator was there? An american workmate coined a great collective noun for them: "an insistence of men".

Why the rush to get on the plane? It's not going to leave without you!

If they are then I'm not sure inserting a microwave radio transceiver directly into their ear is the best way to mitigate that risk!

Austrians tend to have a "thing" about wifi and other radio frequency radiation (when we sold a house out there in 2003 a surveyor came and waved a handheld antenna around on site to check for excessive RF radiation). I suspect that they think this helps stop the phone boiling their brain, though as GrahamS says it's a bit of a fail using a bluetooth earpiece.

1) so you can get all your crap in the overhead bins now that no-one checks things in but only takes hand luggage

2) yes it will now that no-one checks anything in...!
