[Closed] Anyone bastardised a Tassimo coffee pod?

I've got 2 Tassimos - at home and work - because they were on offer, the coffee is OK, and they are very quick and easy to use. Only problem is the choice of coffees aint great, and buying by the bag rather than pods would be cheaper.

The pods themselves seem to be a plastic pot (shaped to allow the water to flow out over the grounds) with a foil lid. I was thinking about taking one apart, filling it with fresh grounds, and wrapping some kitchen foil back round. I don't know if there's much pressure in the pods when water is flowing though, and whether this could end in a caffeine explosion.

The solution needs to be very simple and quick to make it worth while refilling pods. Has anyone tried something like this?

Er, yeah, but I was thinking something a bit more home-spun and not $25 ๐Ÿ˜€

Got to wonder, if you're going to the hassle of refilling the pods, aren't you defeating the object of having a cartridge system? You might as well get a regular coffee machine.

I had a quick google and there's YT vids of people modifying t-discs. Seems that they're barcoded to tell the machine what to do though? So the instructions might be 'wrong' with different contents.

You just need to drill a hole in the side of a pod (make sure you choose one with huge right bar code on it) and use a grommet to seal. I looked at it but couldn't be bothered, I'm not sure how you wash and dry out the pod after use. I'm going back to my manual espresso machine.

Tassimo uses a integrated barcode reader to determine what's in the pod (think it alters how much water is dispensed and what temperature/pressure is used) so that might be an issue.

But I have seen articles about printing up your own barcodes to get it the way you want it so not insurmountable.

Seems it might be easier to use a regular espresso machine, Aeropress, or filter system of some kind. Kind of defeats the point of a pod system, no?
