Bought a lovely Mk2 off here a while ago. Really happy with it (thanks Chris)
Anyone know the spark plug size so I can order a removal socket thingy to give them a clean?
Is it 18mm or does that sound a bit big?

There are really only two plug "sizes" in circulation - 21mm or 16mm, and unless somebody has fitted a late type performance plug to your Golf, it will be a 21. Be sure to use a proper deep type plug socket, with a holding fixture to aid removal, and to keep from dropping the plug (which could crack the insulator).
It's been a while since I changed mine, but I'm not sure I remember it being that big (21mm). I might be wrong though.
What I will add is make sure your socket is a snug fit on the end of your extension bar. In some of the channels it can be a very tight fit!
What engine is it?
