I just got a new BBQ from Lidl to replace my old BBQ. It probably took me longer to assemble than the actual use I'll get out of it 😉. Anyway, the old BBQ has a different gas connector on it than the new one (naturally).
My question is, can I use the old connector and thus the 
bottle of gas (propane) that I have on the new BBQ? I have attached photos of the old and new, you'll figure out which is which!

The bbq should tell you what gas it can use. Propane works better at more temperatures though.Â
It looks pretty close with the numbers so I'd be inclined to try it.Â
Just do it at the bottom of your garden rather than on the patio next to your expensive house.Â

LPG is a propane/butane mix (20-100% propane, balance butane) but shouldn't be that different and, like retrorick says, the regulator specs look pretty similar. I'd give it a go and I look forward to the item on the TV news later this eveningÂ
+ one the specs look about the same : same inlet pressure range, both cite EN 16129, shiny new one says 2kg/hr max so has a higher max flow rate than the old one.

I'll go and check the new regulator I got on 2 new devices from different makers in the past few weeks and will compare. Back shortly !

Here's 2 wot I prepared earlier.
The CGAS one was bought from Go Outdoors to fit to the old gas BBQ for using with a 13kg Patio Gas propane bottle. (we'd previously been running that on Camping Gaz butane but those approx 2.5kg cylinders are getting awfully expensive to refill).
The other is what came installed on a new 4 burner Broil King BBQ bought a few weeks ago.Â

The 'EFV' on one is to denote an Excess Flow Valve - meaning if there is excessive flow (which is indicative of a burst pipe etc free-flowing) it will shut off automatically. Â

Thank you all for you replies. I think I'll switch over the old regulator to the new BBQ and try it. If it doesn't work out, then I'll go back to the new regulator with a new tank of gas.
What do the undersides of the regulators look like, do they fit the same size cylinder outlet. Â Butane regulators are 21mm - Blue Gas Bottles, Patio Gas regulators are 27mm and green bottles (patio Gas is a Butane/Propane Mix), Propane regulators are a left handed thread and completely different, propane cylinders are red. Â
so in short if it fits the cylinder properly it will work
If it's a push on, then it's likely both are patio gas. Just check the connector (flip side from your photos). Other gas tyres are usually screw on.
