Ref/VAR got it wrong. But who the hell cares, and anyway, these things level out over a season don’t they? Good to see an underdog get the run of the green for a change.

City of past seasons would have had the game won within 60 minutes by creating and taking chances, even if the ref was handing the opposition gifts. That's the reason we're not FA Cup winners.

Anyway, on to next season, hoping Rodri will make it back OK and we can start to rebuild <checks to make sure he's not already heading back to Spain>.

It's the fun of top level English football that dynasties peater out. Leeds, Liverpool (80's),  Arsenal and ManU). Don't get that in any other major leagues.

Reading have new owners...

which should have been retaken as he was yards off his line when the ball was struck

That is not correct.

Law is clear "When the ball is kicked, the defending goalkeeper must have at least part of one foot touching, in line with, or behind, the goal line"

Put it on slow motion, watch the clip from behind the goal at 3:09 and you see he starts behind the line and his right foot is for sure a step out but the left foot is still at least in line if not still behind.

Maybe you don't know the laws or maybe your salty tears are obscuring your view 😉

I think you must have been watching a different match. It was just an outstanding save.

Pep needs to come up with a plan B when teams sit in on a low block looking to hit us on the break.

At least tell the wingers to be more direct. I cringe every time I see Doku face up to his defender and start this choppy am I or aren't I going to attack crap. Because even if he beats his man, which he is well capable of doing more times than not, the opposition have the rest of the team in the box while he is toying with the defender and the odds have swung in their favour.

Palace have a few players that are champions league level, but the player I would take at city would be Munoz, he is fantastic and he showed it again yesterday.

At the beginning of the year I said that I was a bit unbothered about city winning the league this year, not because I don't want to see them win every game in the moment, but because it is meant to be hard, winning is meant to mean something special, as it was for palace yesterday, even in my disappointment I was actually quite chuffed for palace, they wanted it more and the fans brought the atmosphere. We are not entitled to win, and I don't want our fans to show that entitlement that we have seen from united and Liverpool over many years and decades, I am embarrassed by reactions like cletus.

I do think the refereeing team got the Henderson decision wrong, but we need to get away from the idea of refs being corrupt or biased, it wasn't a clear cut decision and they are humans under pressure.

As a City fan, this season has been hugely disappointing, I still breath a sigh of relief when we reach the magic 40 points. Utd might just get there this year...

Firstly yes the keeper should've been sent off. But that doesn't automatically mean we'd win against 10 men.

Palace were the better team, when they went 1-0 up the writing was on the wall.

I think Haaland coming back from injury before the end of the season may be what costs us our champions league place. We were hitting a nice run of form, and now he's bank 2 games and zero goals scored. I think he's an incredible striker but I don't think he fits in with the way Pep lines to play and losing De Brunye next season who has been his main supply line is a big concern.

TL:DR City fan, pleased for palace, concerns and Haaland s impact on the whole team.

Just to add to the controversy, watching back this morning on slow-mo I'm not convinced by the penalty, yes there was contact, yes the defender missed the ball but the city player only had one thing in mind, toe poke past the defender and then was on his way down when contact was made.

If he'd had proper control, not poked it over the goal line, with the intent of really getting a cross in, it would probably have been a fair tackle. That's ok, 'manufacturing contact' is legit nowadays, but being on his way down already isn't allowed.

So, Henderson shouldn't have been on the pitch to legitimately save a penalty that shouldn't have been given 😉

Was listening in the car at that point and when they were looking at replays when VAR reviewed the penalty they had doubts about the level of contact. View seemed to be the penalty was "won" rather than "conceded".

We'd be debating these things with or without VAR. Well done Palace, played well this season.

It's great to see a larger number of PL teams who can genuinely give the so-called 'top clubs' a proper game home and away - Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Brighton, Notts Forest, Brentford etc. It makes for a better league and a stronger winner because the season isn't just decided by Arsenal vs Liverpool vs Man City fixtures with the rest getting steamrollered.

It's also one of the reasons why Man U and Tottenham are so poorly-placed - they are both fragile and mediocre but can normally rely on picking up relatively comfortable points against many of the other clubs. But now teams like Bournemouth come to Old Trafford and hand them a beating.

Even Ipswich and Leicester managed go beat Spurs this season - how bad is that?

Good game that, bit squeaky bum time for the last day CL spot now. I think Arsenal probably deserved it in the end, even if Newcastle had the better chances - I assume Arteta will recognise they were the better side apart from Raya.

Anyway, what I came to say is actually, both sides (and they're far from alone) can be guilty of shithousery falling over on the ball for nothing freekicks. And the ref wasn't having any of it, so credit where it's due. More of this please!!

My FiL is a Palace fan so I keep an eye on their results - I'm sure their fans or anyone elses apart from Man City's are remotely bothered about the "what ifs". How about the "what if" of 110+ or whatever it is financial irregularities and if found guilty what that means? Couldn't have happened to a better team IMHO. Well done Palace, the referee, and football in general.

Regards the Newcastle game, if Osula had started then we possibly could of been 2 or 3 up at half time.

Wilson is finished at this level.

More worrying is there is a rumour of a transfer request from Izak, which is why he was not in the squad.

Hopefully it's just a matter of resting him for the Everton game, which was always the most winnable of the 2 fixtures.

Although, I understand the CL is critical for finance, if we end up 6, winning the Europa is a good possibility.

Given the 2 teams that have made it to this years final, It'd be embarassing if you didnt 😉

Where from?

This is going to sound like sour grapes however I write it, and I'll obviously be proven right or wrong in the end, but.....

He has been immense this season, absolutely made up by what he has done and yet still I'm not 100% convinced. The pundits rave and sure they know their stuff but I wonder if he is potentially a one season purple patch and strikes me as possibly one where if the offer is right then we should accept. We have been very lightweight up front, Isak excepted and while Osula may be an option for the future he has a lot to do, Wilson is spent at this level, and we need reinforcing, which might mean cashing in on Isak for another semi-name first choice and another in reserve. I quite fancied Ferguson at Brighton but he's disappeared from view.

I wish we'd been able to keep Minteh last summer, TBH.

Liverpool's form has been woeful of late. Yeah, they've won it but it's not a strong finish.

It's always been potentially a bit weird at this end of the season. Sure, everyone plays everyone home and away, but if you have to play Liverpool in these last 4 or 5 games, they're 'trying out new players and systems' or whatever and undeniably some players are partially on the beach. If Brighton sneak a Euro place because they played Liverpool in a game that didn't matter to them compared to Bournemouth, Fulham or Brentford that played them when points mattered.

At the top - City have 2 competitive games still, FOR-CHE of course counts. Villa might have a game, if Man U win in the week or it might just be conceded 😉  And then Newcastle have to play a hungover Everton plus Jordan Pickford, who I'm afraid is about to make David Raya last week look like an decent amateur as the Sunderland lad has his say over Newcastle's CL aspirations.

Everyone looking forward to a fine example of free-flowing, creative attacking football this evening?

Well I’m sure one will be taking place somewhere in the world, but it certainly won’t be in Bilbao.😂

Gods only knows what the score will be. It could be anything, but if any match ever had extra time and penalties written all over it…

I actually think it will be a decent match tonight.

So much at stake for both.

Yeah, I think it’ll be a decent game, and quite open. I think United will go for it, with Mount and Amad starting behind Hojlund (🫣) and Bruno in midfield with either Ugarte or Casemiro. Actually can see Casemiro scoring and being given a ten year contract accordingly. 3-1 United.

Probably be an entertaining match rather than a decent game, end to end with far more mistakes and errors than moments of real quality.

Talking of moments of quality, has everyone seen Marmoush's goal last night, proper belter.

MSP sums it up perfectly.

Some of our European games have been absolutely bonkers this season. Certainly entertaining, as I’m sure tonight’s will be, but as far as quality is concerned… highly unlikely from these two squads.

More than likely we’ll see goals scored at both ends almost by accident, due to some proper defensive howlers, massive deflections and comedy goalkeeping. Both defences are absolutely shambolic, as their respective 16th and 17th league positions testify

Hate to say it - but I think Utd will win, cos of Bruno. Unless he loses his head & gets sent off. But he's good at not doing that.

Yeah Marmoush goal was a stunner. Another blank from Haaland though. After ten goals in five games at the start of the season he’s not been himself at all. That mega contract might not have been the wisest move, time will tell.

Has the massive new contract had the Rashford Effect? He went from unplayable to couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo before the ink was dry

My prediction is for Romero to give away a penalty in the first 10 mins. Spurs then have to go looking for an equalizer and ultimately end up losing 2 nil. United look shit and confused for the entire game, Spurs look desperate and shit for the entire game. Big Ange goes to manage someone else and leads them to win the CL and, league.

It does look much like a game between two of the bottom five. Spurs very anxious at the back, can’t see United not scoring.

I’m really pleased for Tottenham. They get the shit ripped out them so much.

Ferguson there to see it. He must be hating this season for all sorts of reasons.

I suppose the world club thing might come there, but Manchester being a trophy free zone (for now) is always nice.

Well that was as awful as expected. As predicted, decided by an own goal and terrible goalkeeping.  Other than the goal, neither keeper had owt to do.

We’ve been absolutely shite all year, so that was a fitting end to the season. Woeful! I never thought I’d see a United squad this shambolic

God only knows what happens with this squad of utter donkeys over the summer, but I’ve a horrible feeling they are all still going to there at the start of next season

So much for Sir Jim’s new era. FFS!

I said earlier on a What’s App group…

They should put this game down as stale mate and pretend it never happened.

I think it’s good for football generally though that there’s a week to go in the EPL and the champions league (and Europa League)  places are still all to play for, Newcastle have won the league cup, Palace have won the FA cup and two of the so-called ‘Big Six’ finished 16th and 17th, yet were both in the Europa League final.

A mad season! Long may it continue!

decided by an own goal and terrible goalkeeping

tbf, Spurs made two special saves - the scissor-kick by the defender then the goalie at the end.
