@theotherjonv - I’ve not felt it necessary to ask her, but I think it’s pretty safe to assume where her money is on this one. I’m just hoping she keeps the s****ing down to a minimum

EDIT: I just asked her and she says she hasn’t even bothered betting on it as the odds were so low

Yep, won't get much towards the Big Coat when the winter really kicks in. But might still be entertaining. ManU will win now.

Good second half. Maguire's miss should have won it. Thought T A-A was pretty rubbish.

What a cracking second half. Slabhead had a pretty good match so it was inevitable he’d fluff his lines. And I’ve won a bet for a change. I had a (somewhat optimistic) few quid on a draw at 5/1

And we’re up to 13th 😀

We’re going to lose to Southampton next weekend, aren’t we?

Utd’s biggest win of the season. That was bound to happen, given the narrative all week all over radio, social media etc. all week.

It’s felt for a few weeks like TAA’s head has been turned. Liverpool were wide open down that side all game. I wish Slot had brought Bradley on much earlier. He looked fairly on it when he came on.

Trent looks like his heads at Real Madrid already. I think that’s as bad as I’ve ever seen him play (thankfully)

Hopefully Madrid witnessed Trent’s defending and think again. Sign Dalot instead.

Six wins in a row for Forest. As a Forest fan for almost 40 years, through the highs of the 70s/80s and then the seemingly never ending underachieving years of the lower divisions this season is just so enjoyable and well deserved.

The hurt of having to endure terrible managers such as Platt, Megson, Cadlerwood, Kinnear, McLeish and McClaren has been well and truly been healed via Cooper and now Nuno.

Dare we dream about European nights at the City Ground next season???

I hope not to regret that next week 🙂

Nuno, nuno nuno, nuno nuno there's no limits...

Sorry

Maybe all premier league clubs could ignore PSR, take a 4 point deduction and reap the benefits the year after….

Forest absolutely deserve their position based on their play this season but as an Ipswich fan living close to Nottingham, you're all doing my head in! (Laugh emoji)

Derby fans have gone ominously quiet.

I can’t help think what could have been if Jeff Shi had backed Nuno and given him the players to match his ambition after promotion and then two top half finishes and a season  in Europe. Nuno will always be loved by Wolves fans and I’ll admit that I’m happy with the success he’s having at Forest.

He had difficulties at first, obviously; then Howe took some time to ease him in and find the right role for him alongside Guimares - but now he's found it, what a player Tonali looks.

He's solidified them unbelievably, mopping around behind the midfield when out of possession, creating angles when they have the ball to enable them to keep it after transition. And looks like he'll run for ever.

Been a long time since I felt this optimistic about a toon team but there are very few players I'd swap for others. Botman, Burn, Hall, Livramento, Guimaraes, Tonali, Joelinton, Gordon and Isak I wouldn't swap for anyone. Tonali in particular is the classiest player I've seen in a Newcastle shirt since Gazza. Dangerous to have some hope but big things are on the horizon if we can keep the core intact and add to it with some others of similar quality. Even if we were selling there are few other clubs who could sell 3 or 4 players for 100M+.

Meanwhile in other news...

Strong rumours before last night of Dubravka to Saudi, and him waving to fans with a tear in the eye and last man off the pitch last night hasn't exactly quashed it. He's been a great player for United, not a lot of fun being 2nd choice keeper and he had a shaky spell when Pope had the shoulder injury, but this last run he's been amazing - 2 goals in 7 games I think. Bookended his Toon career with a worldy vs Man Utd and a clean sheet at the Library, seems appropriate.

In pure GK terms Pope is better but I actually think with the style Howe has developed, Dubravka is the better option with ball at feet - but looks like Trafford will be coming in, and he's probably a better long term option than both, so sad to see a faithful servant go but probably the right time.

And what with him going to a Saudi club for £120m as well - happy FSR days 😉 That is allowed isn't it?

Yep I agree, I think he gets a very hard time of the fans - he's a decent shot stopper, and much better with ball at feet. I wish him nothing but the best.

Tonali gets better every game. everything is forward, he creates so much. Him sitting in that DM role has really made us hard to break down on the counter. the 2 goals against in 7 games is a lot to do with him...

Happy times 🙂

Arsenal on that performance seems to be suffering from Man City's disability to cope without a key player. Newcastle did look good though.

Arsenal are a bit like a dog with no teeth aren't they. If they had a decent left winger instead of Martinelli/Trossard who are both a bit rubbish, someone to replace Saka when he's not there on the right and a decent forward they'd be pretty lethal.

Tonali gets better every game.

I've watched him closely in both the game last night and the Spurs game. He has this ability that in defensive transition - when we get a foot in, or a misplaced pass by the opposition, he seems to immediately be able to find 3 yards of space for someone to give the ball to him, and then is good enough technically to either keep it or find another player and then get another 3 yards to get it back. The 5 seconds after a turnover is crucial when opponents are on the press; just not giving it straight back to them immediately after is vital, let alone when the quick triangles open space up for a counter.

I'd imagine opposing coaches know this and tell their teams that when they turnover, to not let Tonali be an easy out for Newcastle, but doing it is way harder than telling someone to do it..

Huge signing it's turning out to be.

Agree jonv- a bit similar to Gravenberch I think inhis ability to receive the ball in tricky areas and get the team going forward.

Everton have sacked the gravel-gargler 3 hours before kick off. I wonder who the new owners will get in for this years now  traditional relegation battle? Maureen is the name in the frame apparently

I totally vote for Mourinho. I would love to see him becoming the new Big Sam / Steve Bruce style relegation specialist. It suits his bitter personality these days.

Potter is a good choice at West Ham. Although given the rumours that they initially only offered him a 6 month contract suggests that he might have just as much fun with the board as all the rest...

Yeah I was keen on him after Moyes left. We'll see if he can deal with the idiots in charge.

Apparently it won't be Moaninho - he's still salty about the Freidkin Group who also own Roma.

Everton are in a relegation battle.

Who are they going to replace Dyce with?

The team isn't really under achieving, so who can come in and sort them out?

Pretty mean spirited by Darren Ferguson not to let Tyler Young come on to play against his Dad.

Was probably to avoid injury from his Dad getting one up on him.

Apparently Moyes for Everton - good to see the new owners are utterly clueless.

With 5 mins to go they're a goal from extra time, no way can he justify putting on an 18yo midfielder when he had strikers on the bench. The kid's made one appearance in the EFL Trophy, it's not like he was an unused regular.

Everton got a second after 90+8 but by then his subs were used up.

In his own words - it's not a charity. A cup run for Peterborough can be very lucrative and most lower division clubs need that money, not a twee headline that's only a quiz question in 3 days time.

I want to see the expressions on the faces of the Liverpool fans who were calling for the sale of the club last year if Elon Musk ends up spending some pocket change on it.

It's ok hopefully it'll be same board that allowed Reading to be bought by the only Russian oligarchy with no money. Followed by the only Chinese industrialist with no industry.

I don't think Moyes is a bad choice for Everton (other than going back for a second time rarely works out). But clubs who have moved Moyes on to play "the west ham way" with a more exciting manager or whatever fantasy they have about being an expansive attacking club while making boardroom level **** ups, have usually done worse without him.

I am not sure Dyce bore much responsibility for the state Everton is now in, but Moyes is a good choice to organise the playing side and avoid relegation and then see if they can climb up the table as they move to the new ground.
