plastikman stuff started earlier than 98,sheet one i think was 92-93.musik was 94.

Yeah I know, but I was too young prior to about 98 to know what it was all about... Think he's been DJing/Producing even longer than that, since about 88 or thereabouts! Minimal is indeed hardly new too (where did I say it was? Don't think I did you'll find!) it's just that he has become famously more minimal as time has gone on (until I stopped bothering to check out any of his stuff a couple of years ago)... Time was Richie Hawtin was God in my eyes, anything he touched turned to gold! But he got boring...

this thread promised so much and delivered so little.

*What is it with miserable old "nothing past 1992 was any good" rose tinted spectacle old buggers like you! Good music gets made every year, whether it was 1989, 2009, or anywhere inbetween, or indeed after or before! They're worse than Bloody Singlespeeders, they're all so elitist that unless they were there, it's not cool and shouldn't be talked about! Gets on my goat...

Cos of my age, I missed a good 8-10 years of quality underground dance music cos I was simply too young to know about it... I know a lot about dance music from 98 onwards (actually, more like about 95-96 onwards) so wrote about that...

All you guys that are like "kids these days, pah, they don't know what real music is or how to party properly"... Yeah, but you miserable old gits don't go out any more! You had your 3 years "back in the day", then put your slippers on, stoked up your pipe, and called it a night! I've been going clubbing for about 12 years or so now, and will bloody well continue to do so for as long as I bloody well can! Times change, music moves on, there's always something good round the corner too! ๐Ÿ˜‰

But it is good fun remembering some of the good old stuff too...

*= Take all this with a BIG pinch of salt!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

OK for me Acid Techno means this and stuff like it:

London Acid City

This one is pretty funny too:

Inner City Junkies

Acid techno is pretty awful really IMO, only about as good decent trance.

Plastikman and loads of the other DJs mentioned aren't acid techno by my reckoning (brilliant though some of them are).

I love Richie Hawtin's newer minimal stuff - I wouldn't want to go out for it but at home it's ace. You hear something new each listen. His old stuff is good too - FUSE is one of those albums that has to go everywhere.

Anyway, to keep the acid fans happy how about (I hope I get my genres correct - dance music is more confusing than bloody bikes) [url]

MaverickBoy sign me the way to this Monica Kruse - your description sold me immediately.

Some Monika Kruse tracks for whippersnapper... To be fair, I'm struggling to find some of her older stuff (ie. the stuff that I know) on Youtube, but if you put her name in on YouTube you do come up with a lot of hits for her newer stuff... Here's a couple of older ones though...

And if we're talking classic techno tunes... And Leftfield are cool, and Dave Clarke is cool, then Leftfield x Dave Clarke must be super cool!

Dropped this one night whilst DJing in front of about 800 people... They went tits! Unbelievable atmosphere... Girls climbing on guys shoulders trying to get into the DJ booth, guys climbing up to try and reach me! MADNESS!

Who else remembers the mental DJ Dan's Needle Damage?

Then there was Dave Clarke's remix of Jark Prongo's awesome Movin' Thru Your System...

Some Umek & Valentino Kanzyani...

Then Dave Clarke's best ever mix if you ask me... Fischerspooners Emerge...

Best stop now I feel! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Que was ace - was a regular there for Atomic Jam/HoG/Oscillate/Antidote/Ultimate Orange/Logical Progression/Spacehopper. Also loved Orbit - saw Sven Vath there on a Saturday following a Spacehopper allnighter on the Friday at the Que. Ace times.
