For various reasons I let my passport run out a couple of years ago.
I now need one , but not badly enough to face a day in London and the hefty cost.
On Sunday I did an online application with selfie.
Monday am posted old passport 1st class to the renewal centre.
Tuesday got email confirming receipt of old one and phone photo was ok.
Wednesday , ie today , got email saying approved and awaiting printing.
The big question is. . . When is it likely to appear. ?
I have been asked to join in a trip to France to go to the Maginot line , and then a tricky meeting with a mate who needs a talking to about his alcohol abuse before it destroys his life.

I would say you will have it by Monday or Tuesday. That's about how long OH's took.
We just got all ours renewed last month,we got them within a week.
Mine took 8 days door to door - that was just the standard service so I'm glad I didn't pay extra for the speedy 1 week turnaround!
There's a good chance you'll have it Friday, based on my experience about a month ago.
Ok , thanks . That's what I was thinking with the level of efficiency so far I hoped it might rock up Saturday.
Did / do they email to let you know it's dispatched???
And finally . Are they dispatched signed for, so I have to be home to be able to receive it?

Yes and yes (I think for the latter.... Ours came via a separate courier and not RM)
Your new passport has been printed, and will be transferred to our delivery supplier in the next few days. When it's ready for delivery, they will contact you with a tracking reference.
I’d say you’ll have it within a week. That was certainly my experience earlier this year.

Got an email today at 0330 from the passport office.
Your passport has been printed. You will be contacted by a 3rd party carrier with tracking details. Expect your new passport within a week.
So Cinderella might go to the intervention after all.
OH got that message the day before it arrived! They are very quick these days.
Did No. 1 spawn's on the 26th, posted her old one on the 28th, RM 'next day' Special Delivery got it there on the 30th, new one delivered on the 5th, 'being printed' notification that afternoon...
Think it was RM 24 tracked, asked them to deliver to the local post office but obviously it was put through the door with no-one to sign for it.
