Painting this weekend and love a colour they do.
Anyone used their paint? Any good or utter bobbins?

Utter bobbins. Plenty of bad reviews online if you look. I always use Armstead paints (used to be called Glidden), the supplier I use will use them to mix any of the Dulux matching system colours and I've yet to be able to see a difference.
If you take a Valspar swatch, they'll be able to match to it.

interesting one this - as valspar are highly regarded in the us as the go to paint.

the uk reviews are terrible where as the us reviews are glowing.

it seems this is not valspar paint but valspar branded paint for BNQ - and as with most things that sell out to bnq - they end up shite.

It's cheap for a reason.

Used the Valspar premium emulsion to paint a kitchen 6 months ago in a strong bright colour and actually it was rather good - only needed a single coat even going over a pale wall.

I can't speak to the ordinary stuff, but I was surprised how good it was

I used it just last week for the first time and I can confirm that it is pretty shite. Any trade paint from a trade centre is head and shoulders above diy store paints.
Armstead/Glidden is decent as is Leyland which is my go to paint nowadays. I'm a decorator.

I had some colour matched to a crown colour

It didn't match

It was supposed to be eggshell, but the finish was like sandpaper, I ended up using it as a basecoat

We got a Valspar colour mixed up by our local paint shop using Leyland trade for half the price.

Get down your local shop.

(Chorlton Paints, if you're in Manchester)

I used their eggshell on our mantelpiece and have found it to be perfectly robust. First coat went on a bit patchy, but covered well by second coat, it's dark gray admittedly.

Hasn't chipped/peeled, etc despite having stuff sat on it and a woodburner cranking out a decent heat every day for 6-ish months of the year. The finish could be a little better, but that could be down to cheap brushes as much as the paint. Not as good as the Leyland acrylic eggshell I used on the skirting, but not bad.

I use a local Leyland/Johnstone trade place, paint is noticeably better and very close to prices in BnQ etc. Their sundries are better too.

Used the Valspar Premium paint for the bathroom a couple of months and found it to be a really good paint convering well and giving a really nice finish. Nothing negative offer than the price.

Used the premium in my kitchen, I think it's good. Colour matched to farrow and ball (had proper Farris and ball in other room) and it's a good match. Would recomend. Don't think it's cheap either, average price.

CBA with the staff in my local one, if your not trade your not in their club and they are just rude.

Yes, but it's not them that's going on my wall, it's the paint. Service is not really top of my list at a paint centre mate, sorry!.

+1 for Wickes own paint, not a massive colour palate though
