[Closed] Difference between Intel Core 2 Quad and intel quad core

There are various different Quad Core Intel Processors, of which the Core 2 Quad is one variant... If that makes sense?

Reminds me of the old 486DX and 486SX.
The 486 chip (for those to young to remember) was the 386 chip with the 386 maths co-processor built in, the 486SX (or may have been the other way round) had the maths co-processor part disabled, so essentially it was a 386 chip, for which you paid 486 price.

well in case that hasn't answered your question, I think that core 2 quad uses 2 seperate chips on the same board whereas intel quad core simply uses one chip.

Core 2 Duo is a single chip with 2 cores. Core 2 Quad is a single chip with four cores, although effectively 2 x Core 2 chips in one package.

Intel Core 2 was the previous generation of chips. This has since been superseded by by the Core i3, i5 and i7 chips, some of which are dual core and some of which are quad core. So in summary "Intel Quad Core" could be any one of these chips with four cores. "Intel Core 2 Quad" is a specific range of chips with 4 cores.
