In my haste to tidy up, guess what I have done.
Is there any free software out there I can use to recover a movie from a micro SD card.
Ideally, software that wont mess up my laptop
Any recommendations?

Yep, just do a google search for file recovery software. IIRC Sandisk and other quality manufacturers have such utilities on their websites for you to download.
