Put some decking down last year and it needs a treat.
Whats the best stain or oil?

Oil every time. Much better than stain in terms of longevity and appearance. Also think it improves the feel underfoot in wet conditions ie less like ice!

Oil. Found out the hard way (stained first and it looked dreadful).

Oil every time, as once its been stained, it needs to be restained on an annual basis, I know I learnt the hard way.

I'm a painter and I have done a few with stain and it doesn't last so I would go for oil
