What are people using for outdoor work in the winter? I’m an aerial rigger so out in all weathers and as I’ve got older the cold is getting harder to deal with.
Ive got full on waterproof gloves but I need something that is not too thick and bulky as I need some dexterity when I’m stripping cables etc.
Anyone had any joy with the battery heated type gloves?
I'm in an unheated workshop and it's usually colder than it is outside. (colder than inside the fridge last year when I tested it)
Obviously no wind chill etc.
I tend to use fingerless gloves as I still need dexterity.
I've never found a full finger glove that doesn't rob you of dexterity unfortunately.
Mine are actually just worn out bike gloves with the fingers cut off.
I think keeping your arms and wrists warm along with the bulk of your hand helps a lot.
Crap isn't it😐
I've started using framers gloves from Screwfix, seem great so far.
I bought some reynauds fingerless gloves from ebay. I wear them under Work gloves and take the work gloves off for tricky stuff.
These are worth a shot

Thanks guys, I do use fingerless gloves and they are great when it’s dry but my problems start when it’s wet and cold and I’m handling cold steel poles etc. Those gloves that tomd linked to look like they are worth a shout.
I use these for winter trailbuilding stuff

Warm and waterproof, but not overly great for dexterity. They also get a bit sweaty inside and take a while to dry out.
What might work is having a couple of pairs - one fully fingered, the other snip the tips off the thumb/first/second fingers to make framers glove type things, then chop and change as the task dictates
I'd be wary downsizing, as that'll just restrict circulation and give you cold hands again!
+1 for Ejendals gloves, I've used them in -27 in Sweden and they were grand! They do a few versions, including some that'll work with touch screens and some with a very soft dextrous leather palm and fingers.
Just ordered a pair of the Ejendals.
Checkout Canadian work wear websites for ideas, they have much better stuff oout there.
TheBrick I will.
I use these as recommended by bear boners

I don’t know if Snickers still do them but they used to sell single left and right gloves so you could mix and match them in terms of warmth and dexterity- so if you need you fingers free on your right hand there’s no need for the left hand to get cold. Also meant you could replace single gloves if you wore one out.
these days I lose gloves before wear them out so tend to buy packs of cold weather assembly gloves, so that I have plenty of dry pairs available as much as anything else. Having a lot of the same gloves means your not stuck if you loose one but a time comes when I seem to only dozens of left gloves. I tend to have some pretty warm hands though. The rest of you being warm is generally better than bulky gloves
Canadian web sites ya say...
Pitter patter lets get to it...
This place could pass for a UK Letterkenny.
Hestra do a range of work gloves called "Hestra Job". Basically cheaper versions of their fantastic skiing and hiking gloves.
Clas Ohlson used to sell them before they all shut down.
If you want the rubberised plam ones look on ebay. You see the same things in shops for four times the price. Bit like gardening gloves in gardening centres.£8.99 when they are a quid on ebay. Or try the local market. There will be a stall flogging fag lighters, cheap clothers and nasty hats with flames embroidered on them as well as gloves.
If you want leather go to ebay and look for venitex leather gloves. Pile lined ones with a white pile cuff are brilliant. Not strictly water proof but they are my go to winter cycling and work gloves. Bit of Nikwax once a year.
Skiers know them as Chamonis bin mens gloves. 12 quid or less.
Or you could go really posh and buy Snow Shepheard versions which have a membrance in them but are way over priced compared with Venitex.
