Hi folks, bit of a plug here for a couple of mates and good causes all round! (Mods, hope this is ok?)

My mates Chris and Phil are canoing the Leeds - Liverpool canal starting on Tuesday and finishing in Liverpool on the Sat. They are both raising money for great causes, The Royal Liverpool University Hospital's pancreatic cancer research, the Walton Centre's Neuro Fund, and the Pituitary Foundation.

They are known as the Paddling Police on Twitter (they're both serving Merseyside Police Officers!) so give them a follow and if you'd like to donate even the smallest amount you can do so at https://www.charitiestrust.org/members_data/event/paddlingpolicemen/index.html which of course will be greatly received and welcomed. They can be followed on Twitter @paddlingpolice

If you see them on your travels give them a wave!

To make things worse I have just been informed that the car they intended to use to travel from Liverpool to Leeds to start their trip has broken down with a dodgy gear box! Any offers of transport for Monday from Liverpool to Leeds also appreciated!

Thanks in advance

At least its all down hill for them.

Oh and if some kids shout DUCK, they mean DUCK down, not the winged variety.

Some nice urban decay approaching liverpool, and some great arcitecture.Buts its slowly getting done up

Will the canoes be fitted with sirens and blue lights as well.

They can now paddle the whole way in to Albert Dock, just opposite the main police cop shop, al;though best to walk the stanley locks though.

Just noticed there is a bike week ride from METAL BIRDS, pier head , to Metal Men crosby same day, so lots of us cyclists to look out for, about 30 last year.

yep think they have clearance to paddle into the Albert Dock, so will be a good finish for them. Blues & Two's and a police dog in the back to guard the boats! 😉
