The missus iPhone 4 ground to a halt recently. Turns out she had less than 500Mb free after taking a gazillion photos and cutesy videos of the kids.

She wanted to keep those on the phone so I deleted her music instead (which she never listens to anyway). 8Gb free and now it runs like new.

Moral: iPhones, like PCs, don't like getting low on storage.

I've struck a deal with a pal for his 5S as he's going to the 6. Not too sure how popular the mahoosive one is going to be in this country, I think it's mainly for the asian market.

I'm not sure what the watch does... did someone say it has to be connected to the phone all the time? If so you may as well just use your phone...

I think the main reason for having the watch is to use it as a remote for your phone - caller id, messages, control the music etc without taking your phone out of your pocket or bag. Siri also needs a net connection to work - and the watch doesn't hold a sim card.

Given that, it doesn't make much sense for it to exist without the phone itself.

I prefer the size of the 4/5 but I quite fancy trying the ApplePay etc, hence getting a 6.

@Jamie, IME you won't get a brand new 5S cheap, 10% off maybe. Best bet is to pickup a second hand phone a year or so old. As I am sure you know the 5S is very good phone, when side by side my 4S appears clunky and ancient, you can see differences in screen quality and camera and overall speed.

I've not had a good play with a 5S but I'm surprised at this, I thought the screens and cameras were more or less the same?

Looking at the tech specs both have 326ppi IPS screens with 800:1 contrast ratio and 500 cd/m2 max brightness. So on paper the quality should be identical, the 5S screen is just a bit longer.

And both cameras are 8MP images with 1080p/30fps video. The 5S has a f/2.2 lens versus the f/2.4 lens in the 4S but that's pretty minor.

If the reality doesn't reflect the specs then that's me a bit happier to move to the [i]still-slightly-too-big-for-my-liking[/i] 5S. 🙂

i have a 5s (you may know) and iT's rather Ace, iT's gold (you expected that) and iT's only 7 months old..

So why am i thiNkiNg about changiNg to a 6? i don't know TBH, but i thiNk i'Ll get the small 6 iN Gold iF, iF iT fiT's iN my Rapha case.. i stiLl have to measure the bloomiN thiNg.

Interesting, ta. That makes me feel happier about moving to a 5S.

And yeah, once you get above a usable amount megapixel counts are not a useful indication of quality, but I didn't notice much else in the paper specs to suggest they had improved the camera so that's a pleasant surprise.

O2 upgrade servers appear to have melted. I'll call them later.

The apple servers themselves pretty much melted and about 20 minutes after opening for purchases delivery times appear to be being pushed in to October. Looks like it was a popular phone.

Ordered mine. Cases are on 3-4 week delivery, but phone is 7 days...

Got mine. Same one as Footflaps but with a jazzy blue case. Phone says delivery on the 19th, case 2-3 weeks.

The phones have either flown out or Apple couldn't get enough of them ready for launch as you can no longer pre-order any of them (except the undesirable 16gb in silver or grey) for delivery on launch day.

Most are now 7-10 days but the 6+ is saying 3-4 weeks.

Not sure if this is because its a knock out phone or because there is so much pent up demand from people with the 4 or 4s who wern't seduced by the 5 range but who's phones are now borked. The only people I know who have ordered today are upgrading from older iPhones.

£25 for a silicon case? Is it worth it?

I'm waiting to see if my daughter can get a discount then it will be a 64GB 6 as per @footflaps.

@curious I use my phones without a case, £25 for a Apple store case seems quite good value vs historical sky high prices.

@jtech, it's normal for them to sell out, they pre-order millions but demand is very strong. Apple predicted the 6 would be a huge seller as the overall size change will drive more sales than just the past spec orientated upgrades (5 was only slightly bigger than 4/4S)

Nope. Apple's own cases are usually pap. By the time they ship, there will be much better alternatives from the likes of Spigen, Speck, Incase etc.

18-karat gold that our metallurgists have developed to be up to twice as hard as standard gold.

Pure marketing bullsh*t, what is 'standard' gold, do they mean pure if so then 18 carat could easily be harder if alloyed properly.
