Morning all. How long do you think is acceptable to wait for a warranty issue to be sorted?
YT have had my bike for four weeks now and they are unable to advise when my bike will be returned. My Capra has a crack on the frame where the dropper post hose enters the frame and YT have advised it will be replaced. They have a replacement frame in Germany but it requires painting but they are unable to give me a date if when the bike will be returned.
I’m going to BPW soon and have been forced to hire a bike. What do you guys think/what experiences have you had with YT?
Hmmmm they have a solution, and are dealing with it, not prevaricating.. I think you have to suck it up for now. After all you decided that going mail order was a risk you were willing to take, to get a cheaper bike.
My last bike warranty claim took 8 weeks (Ghost via CRC, a while back), they had said it was to be replaced (with a new bike) as it went over their 6 week limit, but it still took another 2 weeks for me to get it.
Those 8 weeks without the bike (I had others but...) was enough I decided only buy locally (bike wise) in the future.
Time to take a deep breath my friend.....and relax.
YT have agreed to replace it, great
YT have a frame, in your size. Even better.
YT just need to paint it. There are probably a whole list of reasons why that hasn't happen yet. But it will.
Its crap not having your bike, been there etc.
As for BPW, hire a bike try something different, or rebook for another time. Build a bike out cheap bits and proper scare yourself.😀
You have been talking glass half full Speshpaul, other experiences may differ
I think my PB with a YT warranty was around 3 months. That was back in the old days before Flossman hired someone who knew about running companies.
“They have a replacement frame in Germany but it requires painting”
This seems strange. All their frames are almost certainly painted where they’re built (China, Taiwan?) It costs almost as much to get a single frame painted in Europe as it does to get a frame manufactured and painted in the Far East. But maybe they have unpainted frames for warranty issues so they can cover lots of models and product years?
I’ve seen Commencal quoting over 6 months for warranty replacements!
INSTRUCT YOUR SOLICITOR TO SERVE THEM.
🤪
What do you guys think/what experiences have you had with YT?
I had a Jeffsy Pro race crack on the underside of the downtube, under the plastic downtube guard (which wasn't damaged in any noticable way). YT insisted it was impact damage and wouldn't entertain a warranty claim. The frame was less than 5 months old
Basic standard manufacturing customer service procedure 🙂
Prompt response to issue + good comms = issue initially sorted & happy customer
Actual warranty work to complete resolution of the issue, which will not gain said manufacturer any profit (& could in fact delay any current work that will make them a profit) goes to back of queue to be completed 'eventually'
As above, be happy they have committed to fixing the issue for you
Those 8 weeks without the bike (I had others but…) was enough I decided only buy locally (bike wise) in the future.
I have bought several bikes from my LBS (literally a 200 metre stroll down the road). Believe me, it doesn't necessarily mean warranty work is sorted any quicker (says the guy who is currently waiting on the second warranty replacement freehub, the courier having lost the first one sent out by the distributor...🙄)
