Hi people

Im completely stuck with making up my mind and i would like to get some advice please.

I want one of these 3 Scott scale hardtails. All bikes are brand new. My budget is £2600

Ive got a new pair of Fox factory step cast forks to put on one of them and then i will sell the old/new forks to get back a little money.

1 2016 Scale RC 700 £2399 Outstanding spec. Sram XX1, XTR brakes but old/new would only change shifter to XX1.

2 2017 Scale RC 700 pro £2500 i like the look, new style frame with all 1x11 XT M8000 and would change nothing.

3 2016 Scale 710 £1349 like the colour scheme ,very cheap, not as good frame and would spend savings on changing to 1x11 and new larger cassette, add some spare THOMSON carbon bars i have laying around and maybe wheels.

What would you buy out the three if you was me and why?

RC700 Pro. It has the HMX frame, is the newer geometry and has decent stuff on it. Sorted.

The rc was never on my list because it doesnt suit my hardtail wants/needs.
Im on my 2nd 710, 3rd on the way. Its brilliant, alloy frame but slacker than the rc frames plus it'll take a 29er wheelset.

Plenty of spare budget for upgrades/gofast wheels.

If i wanted an n+1 racebike then maybe id look at an rc, but the 710 could cover all bases and works superbly as my winter bike.
Any racing here is spark terrain so a hardtail needs to be slacker and its suprisingly capeable in the local xc'duro series.
Im running my current build with 34+ 120mm forks. The oem boosted 29 32s are plenty stiff enough and they are actually a fit4 cartridge fork.
Id stick with these over a stepcast 100mm fork especially if its only a 27.5 fork as you'll mess with the fun geo.

Almost certainly the 2017 RC pro, Unless it came with shonky wheels. With the rc pro, you've still got £100 and whatever you get from forks so could probably get an xd freehub (assuming hubs convertable) and a 10-42 11sp sram cassette if you wanted the additional range.

The 2017 RC700, newer frame, better geometry and it has a Shimano build and not a SRAM build.

2017 Pro. Sounds like it’s the one you want and it has the spec you wouldn’t change. No point buying a cheaper one then spending the difference making it like the bike you wanted in the first place.

Are you racing, or is it for trail riding?

'Are you racing, or is it for trail riding?'

Breaking and selling for a profit, from the looks of it.

Honestly, these gross profiteers, boils my p... Oh, wait... 😉
