Having put the Speed King 2.1s back on the Boardman and pinched a tube in the process (n00b), am needing a spare tube - should I get a 1.7-2.1 tube or a 2.1-2.6? Am also ordering a 2.3 Speed King for the front wheel for a bit more grip - is there any difference other than the bead between the wire and folding version?
Alternatively there's the Black Chili ones but the compound seems pretty soft and grippy on the OEM tyres and at a third of the price it doesn't matter if they wear out twice as fast. Or do the Black Chili tyres last forever and have enough grip and lack enough rolling resistance to make sense?
Fit the biggest tube you can. I'd go for the 2.1-2.6. It may be (very) slightly heavier but when you inflate it inside the tyre it won't have to stretch to fit, so it should be thicker, which means more puncture resistance. If you're careful and inflate the tube very slightly before fitting it, you should be able to avoid pinching it and it should fit neatly.
