I've put some offset bushes in. It still rides pretty good. But the stack height is too high despite using flat bars and flipping the stem.

The top cover of the headset is very thick. Could reclaim 8mm off it if I had a light sabre and a steady hand. Can this easily be machined? Anybody have a different solution? a alternative top cover that fits?

Why would changing the top cover change stack height? All the changes happen below the stem?

Oh wait. Sorry, got that wrong.

Yea I'm talking about the top cover of the headset - not top cap star nut thing

Im sure its do-able as it is just a top cap. What make is the headset?

How low do you think you need to go? Or maybe the question should be why do you think the stack height is too high? Even with a reduced top cap, 8mm is not a huge difference although its all gains i suppose. Just had a look at the geo for 2015 and its seems fairly low to begin with, certainly compared to newer bikes.

I believe you can buy a low stack top cap for it. As mentioned before its not exactly a tall bike to begin with, why do you want to go lower? I run offsets in my trigger, was the stack height ok prior to installing the bushes? Have you installed them the right way round (backwards compared to a normal shock)?

Offset bushings installed correctly from what I can tell. The HA change was measurable with an app when I did it and it certainly rode differently. Theory is that it lowers the bb right?

The last few rides, I'm been dropping the bar height and it just feel better and better when I do. I did the bodge where I removed the top cover and just ran a few spacers between the top bearings and the stem and the handling felt better again. Obviously that's not a solution.

Unless I can find a 1.5" stem with a lower stack height - I'm stuck.

Can you flip the stem?
