Just deciding whether to send my 2005 36 R talas forks in for a full service at £115, plus whatever costs will be needed to fix the lack of rebound damping, plus whatever the cost will be for new lowers (there is a very small hairline crack near the pinch bolts thats been there for ages, but not got any worse or caused problems, so maybe they dont need replacing).

Or should I just buy some new forks, I like the stiffness and precision of the 36's, so ideally I'd go for something of similar dimensions, but dont want a significant amount of extra weight.

Whats the fork of choice for 150mm travel these days, and it must have a 20mm axle?

Are the marzocchi 55's any good? they look quite a bit heavier than the fox though?

any input appreciated, cheers.

After having a bad set of 55's that sank into their travel - the replacements have been great. They're stiff and being an air spring not too heavy.

Having said that, if you're happy with the Fox I would wait until Mojo have had a look. I think the lowers are about £140, but you'd probably get the newer style with qr levers etc.

I'm pretty happy with the fox, but they are quite old now, so I figured that if it wouldnt cost too much more than the service plus the repairs, maybe there are better options out there now, plus I'd get a warranty again.
