The trade prices they sell to dealers at isn't bad, but not sensational. It's more than the prices they were selling for yesterday!

I chose not to order a set last night having built up a very gold and purple set of split jackets... probably for the best, it's not like I don't already have more Oakleys than I need...

Clubber I did the same, even got to the checkout and enterered all my details. It's the family holiday in just over a week I'd I be robbing the kids of a spend free week if I'd got them. I found I do have a giult gene.

Seem fairly expensive to me to be honest - my black irridium half jackets were $80, the web site wants £120!!

Last night they'd been £60.

Even at the price I paid last night, they'll be making significant profit on a website order, so I would expect them to honour it...

Oh well, if they don't, it was an impulse buy and I'm no worse off. I was quite looking forward to getting them though, White/Black jawbones with red sparkly bits and fire iridium vented lenses... Lush!

I had a pair in the checkout, a pair of half jackets with my name on the lens, but like Drac, my head ruled my heart and I turned the laptop off. Thankfully the prices have gone back up otherwise I would have bought them this morning when Mrs Lunge isn't watching over me...

They don't even need it in t+c's until you are told your order has been accepted it is an offer to treat and not binding which us why the first email you get from retailers is a thank you order received not a full confirmation. They may honour out of good will they are still making a profit. Happy with my 35 quid outlet five squareds, though these looked to have pimpy custom options.

I built 2 sets (Jawbone and Split Jackets) last night but decided to show some restraint - most unlike me. Good luck to those that ordered.

The thing with the Custom Orders though is they state that the order is accepted when you get the order confirmation email - standard orders have a Order acceptance when they sent the Shipping notification email. So, the order placed last night should have been accepted, the only question then is whether they invoke the Price Error condition. My order currently states 'In Progress'

Hoping to get a set of Jawbones at a knock down price, but I wouldn't be surprised to get a cancellation email later today...

I have had an email and it clearly states 'Oakley.com Order Confirmation' and also in the email it states...

All sales of Oakley Custom Product are final. No refunds, exchanges or cancellations will be accepted.

Hopefully this goes both ways!!

nope. credit card told me transaction was for Oakley. shame. they declined it anyway - apparently they get a lot of fraudulent card transactions on this kind of thing. now to contact oakley to ask why they asked for more than double my invoice...

Did CC company block it as the initial transaction was authorised for 93.20 and Oakley tried to take more?

I'd have thought trading standards would be very interested to hear if they're completing transactions for 93 quid, then taking £205 off the credit card! I hope they try it on with me, there'll be hell to pay!

Had a call from Barclays Fraud prevention just now.

Oakley took a pre-authorisation last night for full retail - but they've NOT taken the money yet.

still showing on the website as "in process", and listing the "discount" price

wait and see!

They seem to be over complicating this - surely they either shrug their shoulders, process the order and despatch with a note saying "you jammy bugger", or they cancel all the orders!

no need to wait and see. I just spoke to them and they are going through all the incorrect orders and cancelling them. Was worth a try though at those prices.

Have they actually contacted you guys before cancelling the order?

their T&C's say they are supposed to contact you and give you the option - no good them claiming T&C's and not sticking to them themselves!

If they just cancel, we should be hopping mad and making complaints all over the place 👿

In the case of goods that are made to order (such as custom sunglasses) acceptance of your order takes place at the point at which we send out our Order Confirmations. Please be aware that different cancellation rights apply to goods that are made to order, see section 5 and our Returns Policy for more details.
Although we hope to be able to supply all goods ordered, we reserve the right, at our discretion and without the need to give reasons, not to accept any offer at any time before it has been accepted. Should we refuse your order we will notify you as soon as reasonably possible.

Whilst we try to ensure that all the prices on the Site are accurate, errors may occur. If we discover an error in the price of the goods you have ordered we will inform you as soon as reasonably possible. You will then be given the option of re-confirming your order at the correct price or cancelling your order.
If we are unable to contact you using the contact details you provided during the order process, we will treat the order as cancelled and notify you by email.
If you decide to cancel your order after we have informed you of a pricing error and you have already paid for the goods, we will give you a full refund as soon as reasonably possible (and in any event within thirty (30) days of cancellation).

From another Forum:

The orders placed near the end of last night, when the price of glasses were showing £0.00, have all been cancelled. The earlier orders where the glasses were discounted, are still being processed.

and another interesting one:

ALL ORDERS PLACED WITH THE PRICING ERROR ARE ON HOLD.

The girl i spoke to told me none of these orders would go ahead until they had spoken to America and a decision is reached. So at present the processing of the orders is on hold.

She stated that no ACTUAL money would leave anybodies accounts until dispatch (ie the glasses are produced and ready to ship, but as all these orders are currently ON HOLD the manufacturing will not be underway, therefore no money should leave our accounts as yet) .........HOWEVER, she did say AUTHORISATION for the FULL PRICE amounts may have been made to the banks.....

So this money is effectively in limbo, your balance goes down by the FULL PRICE... so if you have bills to pay- make sure you can still cover it!!!

She stated all customers will be contacted in 2 or 3 working daya - so this will probly be next week now.. and they will inform us of our situation then apparently!

At this time we do not know if the orders will be cancelled or honored or what! It's a case of waiting to hear their decision on it! Though I am confident that legally if they actually went ahead and took a larger amount without your consent you would be due some money back...

So we'll have to wait and see if they offer us the discount price and amend the amounts that have been going through the banks to reflect this or whether they cancel the lot or what. Poor customer service as i feel they should have had some answers by now.

....So its a waiting game now i'm afraid!!!!

I tried last night but both my cards got blocked.
rang santander to query, and after failing security then visting my bank, then ringing again was informed that Oakley charged my card 61p so this triggered the scurity blocking which blocked both my cards.

After some complaining i got £20! ~Am i the only one on this thread to have got something out of this 8)

Warton there are plenty of new Frogskins out there now that you can get from teneighty etc.

For old school Frogskins on eBay they are either damaged and cheap or in good condition and expensive.

I'd go for a new pair

Houns, you lucky your crystal reds have survived, I had a pair just like that, about 7 years ago the clear plastic started to delaminate and break up (really good Oakley warranty tho), same with a pair of crystal Frogskins

The only remaining Oakley's I own
I think these are Blades I brought them about 21 years ago after seeing iirc Scott Tinley wearing them. The frames are perfect though the lens has some scuff marks.

[img] [/img]

And original Frog Skins though I had to start wearing glasses just after I brought them and the opticians changed the original lenses for some non Oakley prescription lenses.

[img] [/img]

Have had other Oakleys in the past but have broken them 😥

Just received this from the nice Oakley people

Dear MR higthepig,

Many thanks for placing your recent Oakley custom order.

As we are sure you are aware there was a technical issue with the website and due to this we unfortunately are unable to accept your order and have had to cancel it. No funds have been taken from your bank account at this time and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.

The website has had its technical issues resolved so you are more than welcome to place a new order if required.

Please do not reply to this email, as this is an automated email and responses will not be received.

Many thanks,

Oakley Web Customer Care Team
00800 6255 3985

Ah well, wonder how many extra orders they received last night over normal?

Yup just got the cancellation EMail myself.

So thats a bike stolen and no Oakleys to compensate, christ yesterday was a disappointment.

I had heard that a sports sunglass company was in financial trouble, not sure if it is Oakley, and was kinda hoping they were trying to raise cash quickly, blame the pricing glitch it on a tech fault, no damage to brand, happy customers and cash in the bank.
Guess I was wrong.

Is it just me who is surrpised to see people eagerly snapping-up "bargain" sunglasses for £100+?

Insane amount of money to spend on something so likely to get lost/sat on!

Not that I'm judging, each to their own etc.

I don't think I've ever lost or sat on some nice sunglasses. My Cebes lasted about 10 years, till the rubber on the nose perished and fell apart. Surely it's not that hard to take care of them?

But I still wouldn't buy Oakleys, although I'm sure they're very nice.

I have lost 2 pairs of Oakleys I must confess, and had 2 stolen, but I've destroyed countless pairs of cheaper glasses, including some that were still fairly pricey. IMO you're more likely to look after nice kit, and they do last very well.

That's quite a collection Houns - glad to see some Antifreeze Radars in there, my girlfriend refuses to be seen with me while I'm wearing those - although apparently my Livestrong Jawbones are worse!

I chucked 2 pairs of original Frogskins in a charity bag a few years ago, wish I'd known they'd become fashionable again.
1 set with smoked frames and grey lenses, the other, clear frames and blue iridium lenses! Bugger!
