Last Thursday evening. My forks had made an attempt to escape too! They seem to be unscathed though 🙂

These are 100% definitely black upper and lowers?

What are bottomless tokens?

And are alltricks trusted? Never heard of them.

bottomless tokens are the plastic volume spacer thingies that screw under the bottom of the cap covering the air chamber. The reduce the compressible volume which makes the fork ramp-up more towards the end of the stroke.

Mine are black lowers and uppers. Got an e-mail confirmation immediately and a despatch notice with tracking link 24hours later. Tracking info was accurate too. I'll use them again.

Hmm, cracking deal. Anyone got any wheel recommendations for a 15mm axle? 😉

(sadly the wheels on the bike I'd stick them on have oem Formula hubs and I can't see the front will convert to 15mm. So Pikes = new wheels for me also).

Still working. £310 thereabouts. Can't argue with that 😀

Only other thing to note is these are the 2014. They have 2015 on there also at an extra £100, but can't see any overwhelming reason to go for the latest model.

Bugger, just ordered some RS Revelation RL's from Merlin this morning (dispatched) at £310 as the steerer on my Fox Vanillas snapped last night.

Ah well.

my compression doesn't actually lock out, does anyone else's? There is a padlock symbol so I'm assuming it should, but maybe it doesn't. Its very slow/stiff, but not total lockout in the RCT3 stylee

Mine doesn't lock completely. Wouldn't worry about it.

Righto. Does anyone else have a little mm or two of slack movement at the very start of travel, eg picking the bike up and plonking it down makes a knock and if you grab the slider you can pull it up and down a couple of mm with no resistance. My Revs do the same but they are 2 years old and can't remember if they did it from new.

I guess a slight bit of suspension on lockout is good for trail chatter on tech ascents?

I read somewhere else people saying there's a slight bit of travel/knock as you describe, and seems to be normal.

thinking about it, it can only be the movement from the wavy spring compressing, and I shouldn't be pulling down on the sliders anyway!

They give CRC a run for their money with the size of their boxes, eh?

Box was about fork size with mine 🙂

Quick question on the newer Rockshox rebound adjuster. The red adjuster has a screw by the look of it. Does this mean it will stay in place when riding?

All my forks so far I always remove the red adjuster and keep it in my bag when riding, as they have a habit of falling out mid ride.

i'd like to know too kenny, my old pikes have the red adjuster zipped up in bag 😀

@chakaping, how are CRC boxes nowadays, not ordered off them for a while?

How is everyone finding their new Pikes then?

Have given mine a proper test ride now and dropped the PSI by 20 below the recommended rockshox figures. Running 50PSI which give me around 20% sag and the fork is super plush.

Small bump is excellent, and it just ploughs through the trails, not felt the need to use the compression "lock out" as it climbs with finesse.

Final thing i've noticed is how light the front end of the bike is now, and overall too, compared to my Coil 426 Pikes. Makes a huge difference to overall snappiness and building up speed.

My new duals from alltricks started pissing out air when trying to add more psi...then realised I was doing it in the low travel setting after 5 mins. Numpty!

First ride out on them today, but wish I'd done it yesterday as we're in for some shit weather. 🙁

Yeah I thought that last night, a summer of dusty trails possibly going gloop after a week of monsoon 😡

Pretty happy with mine, just used them for 1 ride, seem reasonably plush, but suffering a little from new fork stiction a little. I think once they loosen up a little they will be sweet. At the moment they are nowhere near as slick as my old xfusion slants. But then they were tuned and worn in.

How have people set theirs up? Rebound, sag, psi by rider weight etc.?

I am pretty sure these are going to run super sweet one run in properly.

I ran my new Solo Air for the first time yesterday; they replace the 140mm Revs on my Kona Process 134DL.

The Pikes have made a huge improvement to the front end - better than I'd expected. They're very supple and have made me feel a lot more confident on off camber roots and charging down rougher singletrack. The extra 10mm of travel hasn't changed the bikes balanced handling. Looking forward to using them on some bigger terrain.

Very impressed with these, especially at the price. Thanks very much to the original poster for the PSA! 😀

What weight are you and what PSI have you used?

Manual states 75-85PSI, i'm running with 50psi. Compression dial on top right fork leg i've got one click from fully open, brake dive is minimal. Rebound red dial i've got four clicks from turtle, so quite slow rebound. I'm going to experiment with +/- 10psi on the air.

Although if I were to leave them as set above i'd happily ride them like this indefinitely.

I am 85kg, think I am running at 85psi, will need kt double check later. I have set rebound up the usual way. Not touched the compression dial yet. Will have a play later today, I agree with much of the above, I think these are going to Be the best forks I will have owned, once bedded in.
