I went to remove the qr adaptors from my pro 2 front hub today - they've been in over a year - to fit the 20mm ones and they wouldn't budge. I'm sure they jsut used to pull off - anyone else had this? Any tips for getting them off? I don't have a vice to place them in a pull the wheel unfortunately.

Clamp them in an engineering vice and....oh.....take the wheel to your LBS with some buns.

I found mine popped out easily by using the QR itself just off centre. Mine had been in for over 3 years.

push the skewer (or a thin allen key or something) through and push the "far side" one out ?

(I've never seena proII QR adaptor but I think they just push onto the side of the hub don't they ?)

Pro 2's should just pull out, I used a big set of grips and they came out easy after 2 years of abuse.
Pro 3's however (after much pulling, swearing, leaving it alone etc etc) screw in! with an internal tube between the QR's. 😳

Both mine now 15mm! 😆

I briefly tried the qr idea but it was tea time so will try again tomorrow. Failing that I'll hand my girlfriend a pair of pliers and use her as a vice 😉

I wrapped a piece of rag around mine and pulled them out with pliers. They put up a good fight though.

Are they the ones that are held in by 'O' rings?

Try dribbling some oil down where the 'O' rings are. Liquid engineering.

I'm probably confused, usually am, but I seem to remember some circlips when I changed mine from QR to 20mm. Might be the 20mm that need circlips though. Like I said, I'm old & confused.

takisawa - you're right. I have the 20mm ones with circlips ready to go on. The qr bits push on and pull off. Except mine 😥

Help - so how did you get them out? I'm sitting here with one of these and not sure if I want to get pliers out and damage something. Is there a neat trick - sort of looks like there might even be an allen key type shape inside both sides and again before I go shoving allen keys in and trying - is this right ?

Cheers.

Had this problem a while ago, all you can do is use brute force (In the form of a vice/pliers) or tap them through from the other side. Mine were so seized on that the bearing came out of the hub attached to it when i got it off

Is that Pro2's rther than Pro3's - coopersport1 has said the Pro3's are screwed in.
This is also a brand new wheel so nothing should be seized I hope 🙁

Answer for Pro3 (Pro III) Hubs is to unscrew them - there's a threaded end to the QR adapters. One of the adapters goes all the way through the middle of the Hub and screws into the shorter adapter at the other side.
Appears they're maybe glued together as they're REALLY tight.

So to unscrew the simplest thing is two Allen keys, one each side, and apply loads of force. Hope response was 'swing on them - they'll be fine' so there we are. I couldn't do it using a screwdriver with allen key head on one side and allen key in the other - too much give in the arm using the screwdriver. Two Allen keys though, preferably not in a flexible tool tyoe mount so you get maximum purchase and eventually the glue gives with a small 'crack' and job done. 15Qr straight in and we're off.

Cheers coopersport1 for the screw in tip !!
