Looking forward to this event big time now.... 5 new fresh cut stages on super secret location (ok, we all know now but still private land that can't be ridden otherwise).

Anyone else going?

An yeah, not sure I'm keen on hitting the drop at the end of stage 5. If you've got any pace on, you'll be flying off the end of that!

Cant wait! What are peoples thoughts on practice?

Were booked on for Saturday but not sure how to tackle it.

Do we just ride the loop a couple of times?

Ride each stage and push back up to have a bash on any difficult bits?

do half the loop Saturday but take our time and the rest Sunday?

Drop session Saturday evening too any one??

Weather looks fantastic all weekend!!!!

Yep making my 2016 race debut.

Not my fittest after a lingering virus - but looks like the course will make it worth the price of admission alone.

Tracey - we'll also be in our van (big red poptop) but staying with relatives in Kendal instead. I might recognise you from Grizedale so will say hi.

bigpins - absolutely don't be pushing up sections if it's busy. If there's no one coming the sure, push up a few metres to have another go at something but the fast lads will come down at a right pace, it's incredibly hard to get your bike out of way way quickly enough with someone bearing down on you rapidly. You'd be better off just riding round the whole loop and not pushing back up the trail for a whole stage!

Me and EB are racing but as for the amount of practice, we'll see what it's like and how long it takes to get round. Apparently stages 3 and 4 are tougher. Might do a loop on Saturday and a half-loop on Sunday. Maybe more if we feel like it.

Oh no I wouldn't dream of pushing back up while there's riders about. If I do I will be well away from the riding line where possible.

Don't worry im not one of the nuggets that likes to stop for a chat in the middle of a line or leave my bike in a corner while I go for a pee in the bushes.

I can just see the hill we'll be racing on from my house! and the weather is great. Hot and dry, and looking very hot for Sunday. Sun cream and midge spray will be needed.
Really looking forward to this, as its my first race since last September, and my first race as a vet!!
I think the more practice the better on tracks like these,so ill be there all Saturday practice, and first thing Sunday.

Looking forward to this one.

I'll be arriving late Saturday night for a spot of camping so no extra practice for me. Might be able to walk a couple of stages though.

Not racing but might have a pedal up and spectate for an hour. Kind of wish I was but it sounds like it'll be techy, so kind of glad I'm not. 🙂

What a great weekend, the location couldn't have been better. Big thanks to everyone who made it happen and dug all the new stages. The drop back into the finish was great for spectating, some amazing crashes.

some amazing crashes.

yeah, which'll be why I rode the small jump!

Tracey, were you the car park marshal? I wans't sure or would have said hi. We were one of the red T5's.

Anyway, well done to Abigale, less than a second in front of Ella for 3rd spot on the podium. Neither us of were feeling well so we didn't hang around for the final results.

I had a good day, rode ok. The only stage I was really keen to practice a second time was Stage 1. We got up there and sat around for 20 minutes while someone was carried off, then told go leave and ride stage 3 instead!

Ella has a good one, except for us getting red flagged for another crash on satge 3. Pushed back up and chose this as the right time to wash out on the steep corner. oops.

The stages were brilliant, probably the best PMBA round I've ridden.

Unfortunately missed the race after a mate had a nasty crash on stage 1 sunday morning 🙁

Yes I helped out with the car parking. Abigale crashed three times on stage three so finished a bit bruised. Good results for everyone who finished although some looked a bit sun burnt at the end. Big jump all weekend for Abigale 😀

^^ so when does "Enduro" become Downhill ? When repeated stages are red flagged and people carried off ?

I apprecaite the event was labelled not grass roots but imho this looks and sounds like a DH event

They did always say the stages were going to be tricky on this one.

Nothing was overly technical, it was just steep and loose in places. We did take full face helmets but it was so hot it would have been hell wearing it.

It was far from a downhill event. Somebody the stages had tricky sections but nothing that would be DH, in my opinion.

Very steep, loose and (I think) quite technical. But no compulsory jumps or drops so not comparable to a dh race in that aspect.

First time I've ever DNFed at an event, pulled out after stage 4 of race, exhausted in the heat and following a big crash on stage 1 and riding crap all day.

Thanks to all who put work into trails, organising and marshalls. Nice to chat Tracey, well done to Abigale!

Abigale enjoyed all of them although she did vote for stage 3. I think for an event to have sold out before it was confirmed where it was going to be put a load of faith in the organizers ability to get it right and that's just what they did. Overall they gave the competitors what they have been asking for in an event.

This was the first enduro I've worn my my full face helmet. But that was because nearly all the transitions were pushing and I felt I was having to push myself to ride some of the steeper sections with any decent speed. Just felt better with it on!
Still very much an enduro event though, not many DH races where you get over 10 minutes of racing.
Great weekend, if a little warm. Hope everyone is recovering who had spills, or struggled with the sun.
Well done Mike and Kev on another top event. And thanks to all marshals and track builders, especially stage 3, which scared the shite out of me on Saturday, but loved it on my race run!
Stage 2 owes me a new tyre after splitting it in practice on sat, still a good stage though.

Did you all enjoy stage 2?

Yes I voted for that one, just because it had the most flow IMO.

Even though I managed to crash about two metres from the finish and had to wave my arm across the line.

Me and a few others built stage 2 to be really fast. The lower section after the wall was the most difficult as it was loose as chuff. Crashed loads when building it, should be greatful it was dry 🙂

Thanks Tracey, I could also have titled it "How not to do enduro-ing".

As I said on Sunday, probably the end of my enduro career - but a cracking event to go out on!

Cha****ng your race sounds so similar to mine, binned it in stage one, felt sick and shakey then destroyed by the heat. Definitely the toughest race ive done, i dont even remember the 40k ukge races being that hard. Still great though and cant wait for kirroughtree

Looks like stage one claimed quite a few victims. Kev took a nasty tumble there on his clean-up loop as well.

Maybe the holes were getting bigger by the time people were racing.

Stage 1 definitely had the most stuff and features to remember, it was the only one we decided we definitely wanted a second practice on!

Oh and the official video, yours truly setting off in to Stage 1 filmed by the 'copter (15s in)

'Kin 'ell! They're really sending that er...sender aren't they? If i'd have summoned the minerals I might have just plopped off the end before unsteadily squirming down the slope with my nuts on the steerer tube!

Glad you all had fun and enjoyed what we laid out for you.
Do feel it was a special one, lap stats wont show those that didnt race how tough it was.

Stepped it up for the Northern Champs, next round Kirroughtree with a more grass roots feel. Still will have the steepest trail we have had at Kirroughtree, I'll be up building it in a week or so.
