I have to wuss out of this due to an infection. You'd all get fed up of waiting for me to return from behind trees and hedges!! The pootle would have become a dawdle. Have a good one.

nbt - figure of 8 is my way of avoiding a ride up from taxal. The main change over the normal route is: from Elnor Lane Farm take dirt track / lane and then tarmac to Fernlee. Follow A5004 N for about a km. Turn right just after sharp bend onto cart track, follow down to railway line. Then either N and then W over dam followed by climb to Oldfield and then S reversing the normal route to taxal. Down to ford climb out to A5004 and up past Shall Cross Hall Farm. Turn S at road and follow through to Fernlee. This time take road down to Fernlee Dam and either continue S on railway line to Errwood Res dam, cross and rejoin the normal route. Alt once back at Fernlee Dam repeat section back to Oldhall and then N through wood and onward on normal route.

White hall bridleway can be a bit wet at Whitehall and just before it drops back to A5004

There's also the tie youself in a knot approach of doing Ladder Hill bothways. At Elnor Lane Farm, go to Fernlee, then Fernlee Dam, reverse the normal route to Taxal. Infact just reverse the whole route to Whitehall. Then take the bridleway W to the A5004, head N for about 1.75km and then head W on cart track to railway line by Res. Head N to Errwood Dam and follow the normal route.

Crikey - 5 pages and we haven't even done the ride yet.

More energy is expelled in tippy tapping on a keyboard than riding bikes on pootles I'm sure.

Anyone fancy doing the maths?

STW server time
+ individuals' laptop charge
+ lost work hours
against energy spent on a ride....

which is more?

Be warned. My back brake decided to wave two fingers at me this week. I've just bought a bleed kit and will be shortening my front hose while I'm at it. Anyone familiar with my gibbon-esque mechanical ability will realise what a high risk strategy this is the night before a ride. So.... expect the 'can anyone lend me a bike thread to be posted about 9.30 tonight

Mind you, I've insisted on taking over driving duties from the Enigma in the morning, so we at least stand a chance of getting there some time this week

It's 3 litre, not 2, and it's retailing @ 34.99 at the moment

Binners, we have spare bikes, but you'll need to ride from NBT towers

Hey chaps, I'm going to risk it and come playing too.

Will be first mtb ride since having bits removed from the knee 8 weeks ago. Can't put much (any!) pressure through it, so might be walking at the back on some of the climbs! And descents too.......can't risk crashing!!

*ridden up and down the street in a comedy style on my own then put back in the garage without doing anything to it.

I'm not coming if there's hills that require granny ring. 😉

Oh no!
Poorly tandem.
Eccentric bottom bracket is broken, bolt that holds it together is stripped 🙁

P.S. nbt told me to type the above, as I haven't got a clue what he's talking about.

He's run off, head hung low, back to the cold dark cave (our garage).
Whereas I'm secretly relieved.

Is the EBB sorted yet?

We're not goin to endure another ride with tollah unless there's another tandem out.

We'll still bring the tandem as long as you ban tollah from the ride.

We can make him ride really fast and take pics as we pass without stopping 😉

I'm annoyed, I was really looking forward to it. Last time we tried to do this ride on the tandem, Jane was poorly. Maybe the tandem doesn;t like the planned route? Spooky!...

Bed now. See you in the morning, those still coming. Have a good day, those who can't (be arsed to) make it

A good 2 inches here in Sheffield too. Going to try to make it over but it all depends on the drive over the peak
