My daughter and her partner have settled in the north of Portugal (half hour drive from Spanish border and about 45 min from the coast), we're off to visit in October, they're in a pretty rural area just North of Ponte de Lima. Does anyone have any experience/knowledge of the area?

Can’t help with the riding but would love to know what they’re doing out there (thought about it extensively myself)

They spent three months adapting a Transit camper (see classifieds) and then set off to tour the Med for a year starting with Boom festival in Portugal .... never left other than a few days in Madrid! After a year of van life they then found the little property they have now settled in and plan to develop accomodation (in pods) together with offering yoga retreats.

Local to the area here.

Amazing place to ride, can't say good enough things about it.
If you are into more xc/trail there are hundreds and hundreds of trails, just check trailforks and Wikiloc. You can try the Serra d'Arga mountains for a trail ride there, specially when you cross the ancient Roman stone paths.

For more of an Enduro/dh Ride, Bikepark Ponte de Lima is cool, but I prefer by far the guys at Pé do Negro. They do both guiding and shuttling and build and maintain their own trails

Wasn't there a UCI DH World Cup event in Pontevedra? Maybe Vigo?

We're off over there next week, they've been very busy setting the place up, it looks great!
